I am the same way with my company van. All I would ask for is my personal tools as I have to pay for those. But I figure I would leave out the fact that this thing is lojacked.
Good to hear your still alive JD, and congrats on the local.

Here we go again .....everyone being too quiet. I have to admit I have been quiet also. I saw the other thread with the woman asking about TransAm. It was a little discouraging and frustrating when she said that this thread wasn't current and just a bunch of ####-chat between "team" members......and that TransAm was new as far as starter companies. Uh? ...Then I realized that she really didn't know what she was talking about, didn't have any specific questions for anyone and.... if you can't spend the time to search for the answers that you need or to ask the questions and get answers from those that have been there.......then you have already answered your own question and told us what type of driver you will be. . ......I know, I know ....that's not very gracious of me, but that is the way I feel about it. Every person here has accepted and answered anyone that came to this thread seeking information. We have helped one another and helped all the new drivers that we could. If you want to start another thread and ask your questions that is fine .....but do not look down on my drivers and the helping hand that they have extended to everyone! The Queen does not like being dismissed by someone too lazy to read.
So now I get to subject you quiet people to some ####-chat!
Number One and Number Two Daughters had a "friend" date.....not a boyfriend situation. The young man that came to pick them up is nice enough. I have known him for several years ....and wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him. The Daughters told me later that as they were pulling out of the driveway this friend said " You know, your Mom is a real nice little woman but she scares me. I think she would hurt me real bad if I did anything that she didn't like."
Hallelujah! Finally a boy that understands!
Number Two Daughter will soon be old enough to get her driver's permit. She is a daredevil and has been working on the King to allow her to have his old motorcycle since he bought a new one. We have both told her no ....repeatedly. She finally got disgusted and asked " Just what exactly was she allowed to have with a motor in it? " Without missing a beat the King said ......a vacuum cleaner ....

Gotta love the man!

base out of ohio how many miles can a tranam driver get? how long out? do they go down to fl? and whats there running area? and after training how long would it take to get by house? thank you
-
typically when you get off the trainers truck they route you by the house to get the rest of your stuff
transam has lots of freight going to florida but like most companies has trouble getting out of there most of the time you pick up orang juice
transam is a meat hauler everything is about taking loads from meat packing houses then haul anything to get back close to any meat packing territory
mostly they haul freight Denver to the east coast but they are

Old Dog, 2300-2500 miles per week. In my year I have spent anywhere from 2-4 weeks out at a time. The more you go home, the fewer miles. Also it will depend on how many others have asked for the same days off. Generally speaking, TransAm wants no more than 20 percent of the fleet off at a time. Many times I'd have to stay out longer because the days I asked for were not available. I put in for my next homeytime as soon as I got back on the truck finishing my previous hometime. With the major holidays, you better put in a couple of months in advance and stay out with no hometime in between. Personally, that wasn't worth it to me. I have gotten off for New Years and Memorial Day that just past. Worked the other majors. TA allows 50percent of the fleet to be off Christmas Day. Hope this helps. When you finish training, message your Driver Manager to get you home so you can pick up your stuff.

HTQ, in response to the person asking questions, sort of: It sounds like she has preconceived ideas on how things "should" be. That topic could open up much conversation, controversial and other. Sounds like an A personality. Not sure if this is a new driver? Seems like many new drivers think they know the ropes already and how things should play out. They often don't value the advice from seasoned drivers.
Judging from George becoming a truck driver and various situations he has encountered, I know he has greatly benefited from advice given and appreciates it. As his wife, I appreciate it and am touched by the sense of brotherhood, that whether currently TA drivers or previously employed by TA, there is a spirit of nurturing, or guidance in their sharing. Regardless of that person's opinion, this thread consists of a great bunch of caring people.
To clarify an earlier post by me, when I said "happy drivers were more likely to safeguard their freight," I in no way intended that drivers should put their safety in jeopardy. Mainly, I think drivers should be treated better, more respectfully. When drivers feel valued they are more likely to put their best foot forward and better represent their company. That's a wide topic too... I hope you're all doing well, drivers out on the road now, that you get many miles and can keep moving. Be safe.Last edited: May 31, 2015
