When a trailer is parked too close to another to use the thing... and before I start experimenting with whatever else might work, anyone have a method for this madness?
Alternative to landing gear handle?

Hi camioneur, always a challenge. I pulled RR containers for several years, and the trailers would be touching each other. What I did, with air ride, was back under the wagon, unhitch my air ride control rod, pump up the bags to get the landing gear off the ground, pull the wagon out, crank up the dollies, then reattach the rod. If the wagon was empty, I'd just drag it out, but loaded, that could be risky, as you could collapse the landing gear ( although, they are pretty strong, as I saw a guy with a yard horse drop a loaded wagon once while moving) Otherwise, without being able to turn the handle, you may have to go half way around every time in low gear, and that could take a while.rocknroll81, BeN DaViS and truckon Thank this.

Get a lowboy or RGN they don't have landing gear

See if the yard dog will pull the trailer out for you. That has worked for me in the past.
BeN DaViS, flood and Starboyjim Thank this. -
If they are not too close, sometimes you can back into them with 5-6 inches offset so the trailer "slides" over and away from the next trailer as it angles into the 5th wheel jaw opening, maybe just enough to where you can squeeze and get the pads up a few inches until you can get it pulled out.
I really don't like doing this but have on more then a few occasions without tearing anything up, (and no yard jockey could be found)BeN DaViS, Lepton1, Getsinyourblood and 1 other person Thank this. -
It's like the difference between a roll up door and the swinging ones, only worse (at times). Looks like I'd have to unbolt the handle to turn the apparatus without it being in the way (worst case scenario, or is that when you grab onto it and a piece of broken metal gouges your hand, and then its too close also)...

This could possibly be the dumbest post of the year.Mudguppy, KenworthGuyNH and lester Thank this.

While I was a door swinger this was my preferred method of getting enough room to turn the handle. It does put the landing gear in a bind, so the first cranks are difficult until the landing gear gets off the ground (if the last person that dropped the trailer didn't leave the landing gear off the ground and dump the air bags when pulling out).
It also helps to have a "narrow profile"... ie. lose some weight. Beer guts don't do well between tight trailers. -
Can you move the trailer next to it?

This was actually on a dock (where the doors are that close, as if we didn't have to use a handle). I don't know how people come up with this ####. Oh, let me guess. The warehouse was initially built for box trucks, great.
