Some might get paid to get inspected, Currently the company I work for is offering us 100$ per clean inspection and 50$ per inspection for the rest of the month. Sometimes it pays to get inspected toward the end of your day, Especially if you know everything is in order including your equipment.

I would be more than grateful for not having been stopped for an inspection.

Is it worth risking a ticket or your CDL taking a chance of not shutting down, even though D.O.T. held you up at an earlier time? I realize that you want to get back to your house which may only be 30 miles away. However, is it still worth the risk?
-
i'm sure everybody takes that risk. who wants to spend 10 hours of sleeper birth time so close to home????
perry utah north was inspecting. the port is closed for whatever reason so you better pay attention to the highway sign 2 miles before the scale. southbound is currently MIA. being reconstructed.rachi and MidwestResident Thank this. -
Was at work on the early morning and night of the 2nd and into the 3rd.
Down here, it seemed like a pretty average time to me.
Texico, NM POE closed its doors at their normal time and I didn't see any more state patrol vehicles, TX or NM on the prowl than I normally do. -
Hi snowwy,
How are you?
I do see where you are coming from.
If D.O.T. inspects the drivers e-logs and sees that he or she went over 14 hours, the consequences can be quite severe, not only legally, but from an employment point of view as well.
SADLY & UNFORTUNATELY, the federal government did NOT take common sense into consideration when passing the 14 hour law.
One possible solution:
Call up the trucking company that the truck driver is working at and have the company bring another driver down to the motel, which is 30 miles away, and drive the truck back home, along with the driver who ran out of hours.
It may be an inconvenience to all parties involved, but at least everything is LEGAL.
God bless you and your family! God bless the U.S.A.!Last edited: Jun 4, 2015

One of many reasons to not have elogs.
Reno was open at 3 am. First time I've ever seen em open. Truckee was quiet. Citrus heights was open early.Cranky Yankee Thanks this. -
That doesn't surprise me. I think southbound had the closed sign up but they were still crawling around a couple trucks. Northbound was open and there was several trucks getting inspected. There was about 8-10 dot trucks parked all over. Some had their hoods up. Probably all idling with the AC on so they could sit in comfort while writing up reports. There was a few officers sitting around with towels on their necks either on break or finishing for the day...lol...
I got the green light... First time all week. Been getting the red and rolling over scales... -
Yes, it is...and there really isn't any risk to my CDL. Ticket? Perhaps...but that's why we have courts, and that's why we have the right to trial by jury, and why juries have the power of nullification. I'd say the chances are pretty slim of finding 12 people who would agree on the notion that if they themselves had been delayed by a random police inspection at some point during their day, that they would be OK with being prohibited from going home that night and instead forced to buy a motel room 30 minutes away. A reasonable person would say "Screw that, I'm going home!". Jury nullification allows a jury to say "Sure, he violated the law...but in this case, the law is stupid!" and acquit.truckon Thanks this.
