Works the same way on a phone or tablet. The file folders have the same name, but usually they are installed on the SD card if your device has an SD card. If it does not, then they will be on the internal memory.

 

Actually, I much prefer to use a laptop as opposed to a tablet and a phone. So thanks Dieselboss. I really appreciate your comprehensive answer to my query.

Which brings me to my next question...is a current version of Co-Pilot still available for laptops?

 

We have 2 versions active right now for Windows. Version 8 we sell only for office IFTA mileage calculation purposes because it stopped getting map updates 4 years ago. But for city-to-city state mileage calculating that does not matter. So we keep that one for that specific purpose because the newer one does not have that function any more. Version 9 is the most current for Windows machines (i.e. Windows laptops and tablets.) However, as alluded to by ipogsg earlier in this thread, we are waiting on an overdue map update for that one. It still works well, but some roads have changed in the last two years and we would love to see them catch the Windows version up to the same newer maps as on the Android and Apple mobile version.

 

might be ridiculous for you. but apparently you don't have the correct settings. cuz it's worked pretty darn well for me passing 4 years now.

as for new freeway exchanges, ain't nothing you can do about that one. with ANY gps. takes time for the updated streets.

 

dieselboss, how would one go about downloading the pc version. that they've already paid for??????

Does copilot track your miles for each state, so I can just look it up at the end of each quarter for ifta? Is the eta fairly accurate?

 

I wish that I could give you a good recommendation for that feature. But sadly I cannot. It does a "hit and miss" on the mileage recording as of this writing. It's strange, but what it does is track some of the miles and not others depending on what state and what road you are on. It's as if they have a tracking bit turned on in the software for only some roads and not others. So although it has a "mileage logging" feature as advertised, that feature in actual use is not reliable enough to use it as a true 100% accurate state-by-state mileage log.
With that said, the Garmin and Rand stand-alone units do a good job of mileage logging. Plus a stand-alone "black-box" type of 3G unit is the most accurate because you don't need to think about turning it on like you do with a GPS, cell phone app tracker, or a laptop/tablet style of tracker program. But sadly, no, I would not recommend the CoPilot mileage log feature as a primary reason to buy it. The truck routing is strong. But not the historical log algorithm.
