I guess driving a few miles to find a better spot to turn around was not an option?

I've made wrong turns and have driven 10 - 15 mi before I found a spot safe enough where I could either back into or pull in and turn around with out tearing my trailer up.

I'm guessing both are company drivers,.. I cant see an O/O willingly tearing his equipment up like that. Plus he should know better.

I agree with all of that. It's really just stupidity.

 

Hey there Hurst, I can see adding the small generator, microwave, and fridge, but I'm kinda stumped on the window a/c...

 

To cool the cab at night so you don't have to run the AC on the truck.

 

I've had the microwave and fridge since I bought the truck. They run off my battery inverter.

The generator and window AC,.. well if you have to ask,..

A load of rock on a set of trains heading into MI in the morning. Oh yeah!

 

I picked up some crane pads in KY last year going to upstate Mi with a guy who had a trailer like that. He basically got loaded with twice what I had on my trailer and I was sitting at 79k when I hit the scales. I was thinking man thats a lot of weight to be yanking down the road.

Yeah, hahah. There's a scale ticket here with the bills for the load...

With the tractor that picked it up, it was grossing 137,240 lbs.

 

You do get use to the weight swing off the back. As long as you get paid for all the weight it good for the back pocket. The problem most have is they do it for the same price as a single trailer over here

 

I think thats where I would have a problem. I see guys hauling heavy,.. and other drivers tell me that they are getting paid twice what I do. Then I see the guys hauling doubles like the rocky mountain doubles,.. and I hear they arent making that much. Same with the guys going down the road at 120k. If I'm doing twice the work,.. I would like my margins to show twice the profit. I couldnt justify the expenses and costs associated with hauling those kinds of loads and earning above average money.

Not saying you guys arent getting paid. I obviously have no idea how lucrative or cut throat that segment is. I'm just now starting to get a good grasp on working my step. I guess we stick with what we know and feel comfortable with. I'd like to get back into RGN,.. just not sure I want to deal with permit routing, escorts and complicated over size hauls. I really like simple legal equipment loads. I just wish there was more of it out there for guys like me.
