For instance, how long to wait before pulling around the front of a truck that's doing a 20 point maneuver, when it's almost a straight back? And of course, the second you make that move, they decide to do another pull up, even though it was rolling back when you went. I swear, they do that on purpose, or have no peripheral vision.
How about backing etiquette?

Wait till they are done...but there is always the exception.

It all depends on how big he is... and your expertise in Muay Thai.
We've all been there and can relate. There really is no correct answer.
Thanks for the chuckle. -
I guess the golden rule would be in effect, well I don't take offense to trucks going around the front when I'm rolling back, as long as it isn't a long line of them. Truckers walking behind me at night is another story.

Yes there is a correct answer.
Although this old school unwritten rule has been long forgotten.
A truck backing in has a right of way, all other trucks should stop until the driver is in.
Unfortunately today this is not the case.Tonythetruckerdude, SLANT6, 12 ga and 13 others Thank this. -
Sounds alright, then I've been in yards where it's like a thunderdome, 'two truck enter, one truck leave'...

He knows you're there. Make eye contact. If he wants you to go ahead he will give you the signal. If no then you shall have to wait. That's when you pull out your phone and start video taping him and let him see you doing it. Let him know that YouTube is watching and laughing at his backing skillz.
The last two sentences was a joke of course. Sometimes we have bad days. Sit back and wait for the poor soul to get that truck in.Last edited: Jun 23, 2015
Ketchikan baby, Sik_Life and Vilhiem Thank this. -
But how far should that extend?
If I am having a hard time getting in to a spot and trucks are waiting, I will try to stop far enough back to let them pass before pulling up again.Pullin2, atlasshruggery and Lepton1 Thank this. -
Exactly. Patience is key. On the flip side, you don't want to run out of hours waiting either. With that said, the driver may already be rattled or frustrated at their attempts or just having a bad day. We've all been there.
I've flipped on the hazards, gotten out of the truck, and offered assistance more times than I can count, to settle a driver down and help get them backed in. If they turn down the help, no problem. Then I'll ask them to just give me enough room to get by them. If that doesn't go over, and they insist on holding everyone and everything up, I'll just wait for an opportunity to go around them and go. -
I'd like to not be bullied out of a parking opportunity by people who pull up so close, I can't swing the steers around and straighten out without nearly hitting them. I know you're waiting. Wait farther back. It'll go faster.
Pullin2, cnsper, driverdriver and 2 others Thank this.
