Yeah...my little girl is five now and I'm completely wrapped around her little finger. I am SO looking forward to taking her on a run with me someday. Had her in my last road truck a couple years ago while I cleaned it and ran across town and she STILL talks about it.
Heck I quit the sticks a couple months ago myself, so I can relate Pete!
I'll run 80 for sure, as well as a few other routes depending on pickup and dropoff points.
What's the king pullin now?

HTQ...thanks again for your welcoming words. Also appreciate the heads up on the Iowa stop. I made a deal with myself last winter (I didn't call it a resolution cuz we all know about resolutions lol) that I'd quit smoking and eating outside the truck cuz I'm type 2 diabetic and had a heart attack a while back. Much to my surprise it's actually working and I'm down 60 lbs so far. So hopefully that restaurant is still there after I hit my goal lol...
Pete...good to meetcha I'll see ya out on the road go packers lolHometimeQueen Thanks this. -
That's great,scott!
I always made sure the King had what he needed to fix a meal for himself, but I also wanted him out of the truck every once in awhile for a good meal. If you have a FaceBook page, there is a group that tries to support the independent truck stops and the restaurants that have great food and truck parking. Not only can you get a healthier meal at those places but many times you can find parking when the chain truck stops are packed. Finding a safe place to park was always a top priority.....it's always nice to know where the out of the way places are. Also, knowing where there was safe parking available let him drive a little further and get better miles..

Excellent point. Based on my experience the terms 'truck stop' and 'healthy chow' went together like dogs and vacuums. Course, in the past I spent zero time seeking out alternatives. Funny how one dang incident can change your paradigm ;/
Good to know there's a Facebook group for that. I'll have to assign that task to my better half, as I've so far resisted the Facebook thing. I've been thinking that it'd be good to get her involved in the trip planning portion of things. This would be a good start. I've tended to disconnect when I'm on the road and that's never a good deal.
Amen on the parking. That's probably my biggest trepidation as I ease back into this...just want drama free miles (who doesn't?) and wanna stay safe. Lots of scandalous folk out there.
Thanks for the input, you're alright for a girl ;-OHometimeQueen Thanks this. -
Finished my first completed week with 3435 miles at Cargo. $1500 gross $1089 net. Uncle Sam got his share. No per diem. Been running overnights lately. Time to sleep.
HometimeQueen and Panhandle flash Thank this.
