scott, you sound like Pete. He's afraid Betty Sue from high school will track him down on FB ....and he didn't like her 40 years ago and he knows he won't like her now!
You can always use a different name. FB can be a pain but you can also use it simply for information. The National Weather Service has a FB page for each district. The State Troopers for each state have their own pages .....some of them provide a lot of useful info and some aren't kept up very well. Your home town news station probably has a page. You can use it as your own customized news feed.
There are several websites that can help with trip planning also.

 

I knew I liked that cat for a reason lol...I still think that ttr is gonna be all the social networking I can handle. I get tired just thinking of Facebook. I was a myspace maniac, kinda burned me out.

It's a closed group strictly for drivers. They try to keep it strictly on topic. They have had some trouble with folks posting things that don't belong there so you have to request to join. Here is the link....let me know if you have any trouble joining.....

As far as I can tell she was able to request a join, don't know the protocol on joining restricted
