I'm an Independent O/O. I can use it as a tax write off though. I'm sure he is on the high side of the scale but like I said we go way back. He does have a large row crop operation so when he cuts the crop I'm sure I will get my money back, I'm usually the first grain hauler he calls lol.

thanks for those thoughts - luckily I don't need a lot to survive because I've been practicing a long time and I'm looking at this as a retirement job. That's if I did this completely mobile. If I had to pay overhead to a truck stop, that would be another thing - that option is sounding less appealing to me.

that's sounding better....

interesting business plan, but I think I'll pass

Keep in mind it's worth a little more than the normal office visit because of the extra convenience. Most of us as a norm get up tight sitting in a doctors office. I think a mobile clinic of some kind is a great idea, I just am not sure of the best way to go about it.

Did somebody wonder if MOBILE D.O.T. medical examiners existed? (I am waving my hands in the air) But I'm on the opposite coast from Dr. Savage. NJ here. And no, I don't pay an overhead to any truck stop. Although I do have one specific truck stop that I set up onsite at, I travel the entire state and do physicals wherever I'm needed, whether it be a trucking company or a driver's personal home.
DocSavageSD Thanks this. -
Glad to hear someone has taken that idea and is getting it done, Dr. Pat. How long have you been at it? Does it keep you busy all the time? How do truckers find out about your service? Appreciate any input.

To be perfectly honest with you, you are talking to someone who has had the worst luck, in the 15 years I've been in practice, with marketing. I just became certified as an ME on June 2, but I did these physicals many years ago when I had an office inside a truck stop. Back then, I just had signs posted outside my door. Nowadays, I have a big magnetic sign on the back of my mobile van, and I set up a couple days a week at a truck stop that gave me permission to do so (and they didn't even ask for a percentage). Since June 2, I contacted more than 200 trucking companies and truck stops within my state, and I received 0 response. Hope you have better luck.
Posted here is my mobile office. Most the exam takes place inside the tent. The parts that require lying down take place on my exam table which is set up inside the van. -

It's obvious you are thinking out of the box and working hard at the same time. I really wish you all the best- I think things will come together for you soon. If you haven't already, it would be a good idea to post your contact info on the forum so people can find you. If you already have, post it here on this thread - never hurts!
PS - I see you have a Thuli table - nice!
