    5 mpg, 62 mph, Cat 3406B, 10 speed, 3.73.

Lots of hills, and 90% of the loads are 43-44k.

Hi RERM, not quite sure what you mean, but inherently, rail boxes are going to pull harder than real trailers. The ribbed sides and chassis' with old style grease bearings will hold you back. ( not to mention the over weight loads in them and bias-ply tires) When pulling intermodal, make sure all the tires are full of air, and a brake isn't dragging ( used to be such junk) I could tell when I pulled a smooth side with oil bearings, I got almost a mile per gallon more.

I know pulling containers is bad for mpg's, but was wondering if my own mpg's were better or worse than average...

    430hp N14 Cummins, 13 speed Eaton Fuller 3.73 rear.

    Michigan-Chicago 5.5-7.5 all depends on weight/weather/route.

I find the best mpg doing 54 in direct running 1450-1500 rpm's

My avg mpg is 7.0 according to to my GPS. I also use Scheaffer 5-40 oil and 75-90 rear oil and 50 trans.. It's great stuff.
