Was alot cleaner video i saw yesterday with that one the other got removed it showed when the deck was picked up the dudes arm was laying on top of the car

More than I'd like too, I always keep on eye on traffic and never turn my back on moving vehicles.
I was unloading in a turn lane and had a vehicle come close to the truck and the driver was texting, I had a 2X4 in my hand and it just about when through his windshield.
I love these new dealerships that have fancy customer lounges, big show room, and when you call and ask where to unload, they say in the street. I told my family, if anything ever happens, get a lawyer and don't stop suing till they own the dealership.VTech, interpreter, Tropsnart and 4 others Thank this. -

Tie the dang thing down properly!
This is largely on the manufacturers... it's in the book that they are supposed to provide a safe, level place for us to unload, but it's not enforced on the dealer in any way, shape, or form that I've even seen. Kinda of like they're supposed to receive vehicles any time they are open for business... yeah, right!Colorato, SLANT6, brian991219 and 1 other person Thank this. -

Most of the street unloads I have done were small town's where it's not really bad since the traffic is often 25 or less and its generally a wider street. I have only had to refuse an on street delivery twice. One was on the shoulder of a 55 mph highway with zero clearance on the drivers side of the rig, no parking signs and a fire-hydrant. The other was a 45 mph with center turn lane where I was going to be required to unload in the middle lane. The clearance on either side of the rig was not as wide as my 225lb body. Both dealers found a safe unload location when I told them, in a polite, professional manner, that under no cirumstances will I risk my life to deliver a car. In my opinion the center lane unload is the worst because they can run over you from both sides. If my hydraulics control side of the rig is curbside I am more likely to unload on the street since you don't have to turn your back to traffic when popping the straps loose like you do when operating the controls. I will always park where instructed, put the 4 ways on and evaluate the situation before unloading or seek a safer spot. Both dealers said "drivers unload there all the time", but both were understanding after I showed them what I was talking about in a professional non-combative manner. I also will use one of my units as a blocker with its 4 ways on parked safely behind my rig if I am unloading multiple units at this stop. I will park this unit with the wheels turned towards the curb in case it is struck. In the video the only thing that "might" have saved the driver in my opinion was a unit parked behind his rig since the vehicle that hit him obviously was not watching the road.Terry270 and truckthatpassesyouby Thank this.

Got a cone on my Freightliner rollback and use it religously. Like to see how many people are surprised by that -what iz it - up there in the road. Like they didnt notice the LED lightshow or the white 30 foot truck. Most don't even slow down, some move over, semis and the few aware people not eating, on the phone, or just plain in a daze. Saw a woman once with a plate of chinese food and a fork - driving. what??? -
Watched this video Wednesday and Thursday a repo guy was supposed to meet me and there I sat a foot off the white line route 33 in Jersey for an hour and a half until he showed up. All I could see was that poor guy getting ran over.

I haul Beemers and Benzs for the most part. Many high end dealers don't want our trucks on their lot because it might get dirty. So we get to dodge traffic and hope what happened in the video isn't us.
