This question is specifically for the IC Choice drivers. How is the selection of trucks as far as options? Can the Petes and KWs be optioned with either Cummins or Paccar engines? Can you have the engine specd to raise or lower the power? Also, how has everyone's experience been with the reliability of the various trucks/engine choices?

You can only get a Paccar and it's set by the factory to SFI specs. It's not governed per se. But it can't be touched without SFI approval.

I've put 19k on mine so far and so far no issues (knock on wood)

Thanks TennMan. Do they at least order their trucks with varied options or do they have one cookie cutter spec for all models? Would be nice to offer a bit of a choice with what you are paying on. Is your paccar rated at 455 or 485? How does it pull? I'm almost done with school and look to do IC Choice possibly after getting more experience. My school has 2025 cascadias with the ISX15 and 10 speeds...I don't have experience with other trucks so my knowledge is fairly limited, buts these are rated at 450/1650 and are downright dogs on any hill pulling 20k.

Since you're still in school, focus on getting a good first driving job. You've got a long time to go before even worrying about getting your own truck or leasing one. A lot may change between then and now.

There are plenty of trucks at the Charlotte OC... They are all on the front row....

Thanks DFO...you are 100% correct. I am doing just that...I think going right into a lease without experience is a very bad mistake and I do want to get experience and a better idea of the industry before going O/O, but the main reason for me getting my CDL is that I want to eventually work for myself.
