I understand that. I wonder if when she is at work and she has to go to the ladies room 4 times in her shift. If she stops at the time clock and punches out before she does?:biggrin_25523: Hey what about that stop off at the water cooler?:biggrin_25523: Personal phone call on line 2? Hey, just trying to give you an idea of being on line 4 is compared to a 9-5 job....:biggrin_2559:

    Good question.
Another thought though. Do you really think her company drivers are running legal or just logging legal?

I don't know anyone that can run 100% legal all the time. I know some say they do...... Some drivers will abuse the system, but your either gonna make it work or look for another line of work. It is like balancing a check book. You want funds in the book when the week is up. I have times when I can lolly gag around and I have times when I need to move the freight. I don't care who tells me what I been doing this long enough over the years to know what it takes...

+1. Well said. I can't believe it had to be pointed out, as it's so obvious, but well put anyway.

My 2 cents - One can look at almost any issue in life, and just about every time it will come down to the money. Will the PATT/CRASH clowns sue the feds over a new HoS rule? Money. Will the states set fines at a reasonable rate for infractions, or will they be atificialy outragous? Money. Will a town in Ohio with the population of 100 have a cop on the city payroll who issues out over $1,000,000 in fines per year? Money. Will the DoT build a new scalehouse/weigh station that could be mistaken to the untrained eye as a fortune 500 company word headquarters? Money. Will the shipper/reciever be open durring "normal" business hours, or only from 1am-5am? Money. Will the DoT come and audit an independent driver with 2 trucks and issue a $4,400 fine because the independent hired a driver without doing a drug screen on him, even though said driver just had a very recent drug screen with the last company he was with? (true story btw). Money. Will an operater shut down 50 miles from his house durring winter, having to idle the truck for 10 hours wasting 10 gallons of fuel at almost $5 per, or will he just drive on home like any other human (in trucking or otherwise) and sleep in his own bed, while the truck is pluged in? Money. Will a driver spend 12 hours in the same city unloading and reloading, then drive 2 hours and shutdown, or will he log it it a way that will allow him to "legaly" drive all night and finally make some bucks? Money.

No arguement aimed at ya, Logs, as I see you working here. But like most decisions in life, money or otherwise, it comes down to some degree of risk. As long as the gubbermint passes unrealistic and EXCESSIVE regulations, people will chose to ignore the law. As long as unethical lawyer$ pursue the golden egg without any percieved morals whatsoever, people will have little regard for them as well. Human nature dictates if the laws will be adhered to or not. Most people follow the laws that jive with their own personal morals. Be it abortion or speeding, it doesnt have anything to do with what the law says, unless it comes down to the risk, or the money. Many folks believe we now have mandatory seat belt because of "safety", rather than the insurance lobby getting this passed. Money.

When we are regulated by the hour, yet paid by the mile, the math becomes clear on which option most drivers will choose. .....Money.

Your funny! No what I have is if you go pottie 4 times a day and smoke a cigarrette everyone is talking about you because you are away from your desk.
You on the other hand can smoke, pee talk on the phone when you want, hence one of the reason you wanted to be a driver so you don't have anyone looking over your shoulder every day right?

If my employee is socializing for 1 hour or breaking then he/she will get docked for that hour.

Either way if I was docked that 15 minutes for the potty break that doesn't give me the right to go steal money (relating to your miles) out of the boss's desk because my check has been docked. That's illegal and I can get fired and that 15 minute dock pay versus stealing $9.00 to make up for it isn't worth me losing my job or possibly having a record on file with the jail system. He can dock me the 15 minutes and I will learn my lesson quickly!!!!
I would learn my lesson from hearing someone else who got docked that pay:yes2557:

Here is my story: I didn't bring home enough money this week :biggrin_2553:

I am sitting here at home no money and I just got paid! Hmmm groceries & bills and my cigarrettes made me broke. Now it's the goverments fault so it's ok to rob a bank and I will take my chances. If I get caught hmmm who will pay them bills for my family? The end if I rob the bank: Mom is in prison and we are with a new family we don't know
If I don't rob the bank: I will be here for my family and do the best I can?

I chose to be here for my family and do the best I can. I might have to get another job to buy school clothes but I will be free to see them every day they grow another inch!

You don't have to run legal it's your choice but I thought we was trying to teach the newbies how to do things the right way, not wrong way:biggrin_25510:

Hey logs one of your drivers just left here after 6 hours. So Since there is no longer a 6-4 split my guess is he just burnt 6 hours off his 14 right?:biggrin_2556:

Not only do you have no clue on what it takes out here you must have hit your head on the way to the potty because now you think drivers that don't log 100 % legal are stealing money from the bosses desk....:biggrin_2559:
