They don't have that rule.....never did. I worked there from may of 1994 to Feb 2011. And never once did I see anyone get fired for that. Yes, they told ya not to. But like I said in another post, with all the sidewalks around there, you'd have to just be a dimwit to do it anyway. I wonder why this topic is so persistant, especially considering how much baloney it is. There were a number of reasons I left after almost 17 years. But the trucker lies and rumours about the grass were not amoung them.

Story i was told was back when Harold commissioned the terminal, there was a couple of construction workers or groundskeepers that were walking through a section of grass and wore it down to a path and Harold had seen it. He told the men to stop walking in the grass, one of the men got an attitude with Harold and cussed at him. Harold had that man fired, and from there the rumors persisted through the years that if you walk on the grass youll get fired.

customer says to tarp it, it gets tarped

Flat = tarp If you didn't get that memo...well...go drive a pickup.
White_Knuckle_Newbie and Sneakerfix Thank this. -
I pull a 53' step deck, and haven't seen a tarp in years.
-
Oh yeah. Wait 'til you have multiple stops in Houston at 105 degrees tarping and re-tarping in the middle of the day, followed by a 4 hour dead head grimmy and sweaty. Nice

Im not ever going to lower myself and get into an argument on this site. But in his defense, I have 31 years behind the wheel. And Im with a company that some drivers would call a starter company. I went with them because they are a good company. Im not going to drive a truck with fenders flopping and bungie cords holding everything down just to make 1200.00-1500.00 a week. That paycheck is no good to me if Im broke down on the interstate and get rear ended and killed by a weaving big truck. I just need more miles where I work now. That's the only complaint that I have with them. Us veteran drivers should ease up on the new drivers. I didn't get a manual for a fuller 10 speed transmission on my 1st birthday. We all started somewhere.59EX, JOHNQPUBLIC, HousTank and 1 other person Thank this.

Now that makes more sense than anything I've read on this forum.about the grass issue This is my first post , I have no skin in the game yet ,my CDL class doesn't start until mid August. However being a business owner all my life I can say TMC is one of my first choices mainly for the reasons everyone is complaining about. I for one appreciate high standards in a company after employing so many whiners and complainers over the years It's one of the main reasons I sold my businesses. .Actually I'm shocked TMC doesn't require their drivers to wear uniforms based on what I've read about how military like they are .One only has to search you tube and view one of their drivers that apparently enjoyed filming himself and you would know why they would want to install forward facing cameras, The camera issue is a bit concerning but only if it's facing inward , I would like more clarification on that ,such as 1) is it the luck of the draw to happen to get a truck with one in it ? or is it reserved for disciplinary action 2) Do they state that you may get a inward facing camera before hiring ? Either way It's not a deal killer. Again I am totally new to this industry any advise would be helpful. Going to have to make a decision soonJOHNQPUBLIC Thanks this.
