Hi people, I'm still alive. The last couple weeks have been very hectic. Having dental issues which I've been getting work done and then having to take an emergency run home 10 days after hometime for complications from the initial work. Overall my miles have been good enough that the money is good. I've had a few hangups pulling loads of bananas out of New Orleans the last couple times I was there. The load I'm on now got all messed up by no fault of my own and I ended u po having to babysit it all weekend so I can unload the third stop Monday morning. My second stop was in Atlanta and the final is in Bessemer, AL. My DM said that if I could absolutely guarantee on time delivery at 0500 on Monday morning, she would reroute my trip and pay me for my miles home and back up to the final in Bessemer. I'm still babysitting freight but I get to do it at home! I'm looking at potential southeast dedicated opportunities as well so I can see the kids more often. Earlier this week I was nearly hit head-on by a 4 wheeler driving the wrong direction on 465 late at night! He was in my lane gunning straight for me and I neatly put the truck off the road to avoid him hitting me. This week in particular has been rough. I have never been so terrified in my life.
Hope everyone is doing well. Sorry I went AWOL!jungHo, gntorres61, Panhandle flash and 2 others Thank this. -

Hmmph ....as far as I can tell we are kindred spirits
I'm just not as cranky
...most of the time..
Even a Queen needs a little encouragement sometimes.
Panhandle flash and passport220 Thank this. -
The money that you save the company by watching those pennies can make a difference in the benefits a company can offer.....health insurance premiums....or pay a nice chunk of the truck insurance every month that keeps a driver in his truck .....it all adds up pretty fast, especially if every driver would be that discerning.
There have been a couple of times that the King has been sitting outside the gate at the fuel rack waiting for the time to go by because the price is going to go down by two cents a gallon at a certain time. You wouldn't think that 2 cents per gallon would make that much of a difference that they would be willing to pay a driver to sit and wait until a certain time to pick up. When you consider that he usually hauls 3 loads a night to the truck stop at approx. 8,000 gallons each load, those pennies start to turn into dollars real quick.jungHo and passport220 Thank this. -
Many people traveling this weekend ....and many of them also stop at the truck stops .....

Dropped my bread load and was given a paper load in West Point VA. But when I got there, it was not ready. With my clock at two hours left, I told them (RockTenn) I would check back after my break. Not due until Tues or Wed anyway. In a rest area not far from Richmond. Boy is the traffic building now. Glad I settled for this and not a truck stop. Good to have food on the trucky. Deuces.
