Every company and rack has their own procedures. You don't need to impress anybody. The most important thing to remember is you didn't make a mistake until you press the start button or crack the valve. So always double check everything.

Not all sight glasses are new and hard to see and believe it or not drivers have forgotten to empty a compartment upon delivery and cevacons can fail. We are taught to always tap the tanks at the station, and before loading have a dome out on the rack and your screwed.

Dont mean to hijack the thread.. But is hauling ethanol about the same as hauling fuel? Minus all the unloading at gas stations?

I've loaded ethanol in Texas. Loading in the middle of a rail yard. If the trains get in the way, tough luck. We had to wait.
As far as my area, as in Austin/San Antonio. No problem if you load ethanol after previously unloading gas.
But it was a BIG no no if diesel was the last product. They would go crazy if you tried to load and in our case you would be locked out.
I've unloaded at both a gas station and at the rack. Easy to do and you also should remember to swap out the placards.
Got a nice bootleg aroma too.

A flashlight thru the opposite side of a cloudy sight glass will help you see product movement.

Basically everything that needed to be said was said but 1 thing i didnt see for a new guy starting is bucket drain. I know if the belly valve cable or air line pops it wouldnt matter but if you tap on the tank to high and you still have 200 gals. On you will never find it. Until you go to that rack that has no bucket drain and you sculley out. If i ever had a load and the rack didnt have bucket or hose drain i stop at 1 and charged a stop off. But just go in as you are new to fuel hauling. Everyone there never hauled gas before either. You will learn a routine that works for you. STICK WITH IT. I love to hear the stories of the guy who think he is hot #### and he had a mix or found out the overflow sensor aint working. They get brought back to reality real quick

Get caught with a plastic 5 gallon pail in a terminal and you can get banned. They can conduct static electricity and blow yo ### to the sky.

Also some food for thought...A top notch gas driver never has a reportable mix, if you get my drift.
