3 yrs exp, but left trucking 4 yrs ago making $120K+, where do I pick up?

Yes, I want to acquire and learn it because 1. I have many apps, programs,and ideas in my head that no one has built yet, and 2. I have always been a geek at heart, mind you a fairly buffed geek and 3. it is truly something I really like doing. I also believe it will help me, when I am in the startup stage, and know exactly what type of team I want to put together, hiring people with the right kind of skills needed, etc. I also think the lower pay, yet knowledge gained would be a worthwhile experience if for the only reason being that in two more years, I would have learned and acquired much more skill in something I truly have a passion for. Or, drive a truck, and make pretty good money in two years, but not really gaining much experience in doing what I really want to do.

Haha, I am building a website that is a merge of all my favorite tech websites, even the biased ones, but with a spin on it. It's what I have been working on for the past few months. That and 20 other websites!

As a heart-attack bro, and I took 1 month off every year I did it. I was on of CRE's top 10 contractor's 2 years in a row. Haha, they even put me in the newsletter! and sent me some crap in the mail. Plus, my DM also let me know.

When I run, I run! I don't dick around in Vegas, or sit on loads. I dropand hook, and move, and I got really good at it once I figured out the system. Oh, and I always maxed out detention, and once maxed, move out

But, it was not easy! I had to constantly stay on top of everything. Most of my loads, I usually planned 2 loads out, so never sat waiting for the next load.

Oh, and another secret of mine? I slipped many$20 bills, sometimes $50 bills to get unloaded ASAP. Screw waiting 6, 10, 15, 24 hours waiting to get unloaded. If it wasn't drop and hook, or swapping loads, I was always delivering my load in the first few hours of arriving. Money talks, BS walks, and most of the time the receptionists are not making $75K a year, so yes, if they didn't bite at $20, then a $50 usually did the trick. Every once in a while I would have to slip a $100..., Many times I would get unloaded by paying people on their lunch break to unload my trailer in that "empty" dock!

 

haha, simple math I averaged 6700 miles a week steady, I did most of my DM's job for him, all he had to do was officially send me the load. I would always call all the shippers CRE has contracts with and ask them what loads havent been booked yet. But then again, I use to be a Freight Broker for about 7 months, before I ever joined CRE. I never took time off, because I would always be back home every few weeks to see my fiancee and son, getting loads passing through home. Oh, and I use to do accounting in the Navy. So I might have have a few advantages over most while at CRE.

So some simple math

So 6700 * 0.9 = $6030
$6030*4=$24,140
extra $500 for detention month = $24,640
$24640*11 months= $271,040

Expenses
Fuel - $55000
Maintenance & Miscellaneous - $20000
Lease Truck Payment ($2800) + Insurance ($700) = $42000
BS CRE Maintenance Fund (0.05 of every mile)= $15000
$55000 +$20000+$42000= $132000

Gross $271040 - Expenses $132000=$139040

If I remember correctly, my 2nd year I made $124K, and my 3rd year I made $141K. These are pretty exact numbers

What are you guys doing when your out on the road? Honestly, I thought was peanuts I was making whenever I would talk to the over-sized haulers on the CB for hours, and hear them talking about netting $275K-$350K a year.
