No a/c due to replacing the bull gear. That don't sound right.
Does it have a a/c compressor on it at all? all the 12.7 detroits I have had any dealings with had the compressor on the right side of the engine. I know the bolts that hold the compressor on are bad to work loose and (wallow) strip out . At least mine was, I always kept check on them.

My 12.7 cyl #1 through side of block due to failed head gasket. With no warning...
-
That'll buff right out
JB3, whoopNride and Maximiliano Thank this. -
There is also an "updated" bracket for the A/C to fix the striping out problem.whoopNride Thanks this.
-
What kind of truck is that in?
-
Had no choice but to drop in a fresh one... All though it's been nothing but a problem. I truly have a frankinstien build. Lol
-
That's in my Freightliner Classic
-
That head gasket failed long before that engine block failed.
JB3 Thanks this. -
I have a 2001 9400i with a 12.7 with it. I just came back from pulling a load from Twin Falls, ID to Langley, BC, and got 4.81 MPG loaded. That's 86,000 lbs gross, lots of hills, and foot on the floor, but still...... With moderate weights, she'll do mid sixes to low sevens.
The AC on the Internationals gets pretty wonky on a regular basis. Right now, my AC clutch is direct wired to a switch on the dash, because there's a short in the harness that trips the fuse, and we haven't been able to find it yet. I'd figure he's pulled it off because they couldn't keep the AC running.JD Transport Thanks this. -
Some brake cleaner and some JB Weld and you are back on the road!
