3 months into as a leased operator, How am I doing?

I'm currently 3 months into as a leased O/O with a company hauling containers.

Here are my figures from one week in June, I made $2,795.00 with 25% FSC and drove 1,981 miles. So that is $1.41 a mile.

After fuel $939.14, plates $197.83, plate tax $47.79, Insurance $26.79, that brings me $1,583.45 or .79 cents a mile home after expense before income tax and maintenance/repairs. I take off .20 cents for income tax which brings it to .59 cents a mile on that check to use on the truck for maintenance and repairs.

That week wasn't the best on fuel mileage, I got 5.78mpg, I'm currently getting mid 6 to high 6's after figuring out how to drive my truck, but this week I did do 7.1 on the last fill up.

I do most of the work on my truck, once I get my own garage, it will enable me to be able to do more work and able to do major works on the truck.

Is $1.41 considered good for leased on operators? I feel that it is not. I was told it is good as leased on operators pay less on expenses than a independent operator with authority.

I do plan to get my authority just not soon. Maybe later in 2016.

 

That .59 cent a mile figure is actually saved up not just for the truck. I do still have fun, but save most of the money for the truck in case something happens down the road.

I work monday to fridays. Have the weekend off. Downtime, only had one for few hours to get valve cover gasket replaced. That's all for now so far. Hopefully!
