Well trying to sort through the informative replies and the negative ones that appear to be legitimate, I've decided that celadon/eagle is trying their best to make the L/O profitable.
Their business model is certainly unique. I haven't found any other company that will let you lease a brand new truck, give you the option to be dispatched or negotiate your own loads through 35 INDEPENDENT brokers. The Com data card they give you allows you to choose the cost and qty of the fuel you put in your truck.

ABOUT THE ONLY REAL DOWN SIDE i have heard in this thread is that you are going to pay a hefty price overall for the trailer and truck.

I decided one week ago to give it a go. I gave my current employer 2 weeks notice. My employer ran me for 1 week and they didn't think they could send me out again so they released me 1 week early.

i called my recruiter and told her i could come Earlier. She got me a plane ticket to leave same day. Every thing went smoothly. I am currently sitting in a very acceptable hotel room with a full belly from the celadon cafeteria. All paid for. I haven't paid a single oenny.

Now I am very curious how anyone could think that Celadon/Eagle is setting up the drivers to fail. Simply doesn't seem to be the case.

I will post everyday from now until I have completed three months. Ask me any question and I will happily get answers just like the author of this thread and fr8monkey has done for me.

I hope that any driver that had a negative experience would help fellow drivers and communicate what went wrong and lets all work together to help this fledgling EAGLE fly.
IT BENEFITS THE DRIVERS TO HAVE EAGLE IMPROVE AND SUCCEED.

Fr8monkey and the author and rayon and any other drivers that have contributed positively to this discussion I truly thank you. If I get to meet you in real life, please allow me to buy you lunch and swap stories.

    fr8monkey and Lonestar16 Thank this.

Exactly....how does the process at Eagle work? Does the driver determine where he/she wants to run and choose their loads or do they go through a driver manager like the parent company?

You will do okay driver, I was there for a short time, several months, had to park my Lonestar due to family issues. You will find a lot of help here, just read, I mean, really read the former posts about how things run, you will just fine.
