Depending on what your hauling, some states have that as a felony. (Michigan haz mat laws.)

Why the hell does anyone want to work more than 70 hours a week anyway? If we can't make enough money driving 11 hours a day we should seriously consider a career change. At the very least check out a different carrier, especially if you run your authority. You could be the best truck driver in the country but have little business knowledge.

    RERM and FatDaddy Thank this.

I really have no need to run outlaw. More miles doesn't always mean more money.

My logbook is still governed at 65.... honestly for me it's more about quality of life and customer service than it is money. Am I going to park a customers product for 10hrs if I'm 100 miles away and it'll put me over? Nope.
Am I going to take a 34 3hrs from my house when I could spend the weekend at home? ...hmmm
Should I drive exhausted just cuz a 4hr nap would screw up my 14? That doesn't sound very safe.
Why would I want to miss out on that roadside attraction or nice restaurant if I have the time to enjoy it?

HOS makes for a lot of unsafe driving situations, driving tired, etc. Used to be, we could sleep for four or five hours when we got tired on on over night run and finish in the morning. Now you got to push through.

The license plate readers in WA and OR (and ID) never sleep, and neither do our drivers.......

I make sure my logbooks are always legal. Hell - I burn about 15 minutes every night trying to get them to matched up to where I'm at

Some people can sleep 4 hours a day or night and get the job done. Then get home to their better half sooner. Depending on your area you can go 3 books or do it day by day. If one driver gets upset because another driver can do 7k miles a week and spend 2 days at home, then do something to change your current position. But last I knew nobody broke the HOS ...... lol
