Finally going to start orientation on Monday in Lincoln NE. Any others on here starting with Crete this week? Anyone on the MidSouth Regional route? This is my first driving job. Just graduated CDL school a couple weeks ago and can't wait to start making money again. Was really surprised with the pay per mile they offered me as a student.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
I might just keep this thread going as a kind of journal. Others who kept these kinds of threads helped me. Maybe I can do the same for someone else.

you will enjoy orientation in Lincoln. it is a good experience.I Drive OTR and usually stay out 28 days or more. Glad you are going to keep updating this thread, I'll definitely be reading. so what states does the MidSouth fleet run?RackEmUp Thanks this.

Best of luck...and remember that you pee in a toilet or bottle if you so desire.

MidSouth is basically South of the Dakotas, East of the Rockies, and West of the Mississippi.
I live in NorthCentral Oklahoma and want to be home once a week so I think this will work nicely for my first gig.Wild Murphy Thanks this. -
That the best place to run in my opinion. I stay there as much as possible. This was my first gig too. Been here a year. Very happy.

That's good to hear. Of course I'd like to get some experience across the country (mountains and so forth)....I haven't asked yet...is the training OTR or do you think my training will be kept to my operating area?

My guess would be otr.

Mind if you share what they started you out at CPM?

I read that this route should start at 35 cpm for the first six months and then go up to 40 cpm. However, with military background you can start at 39 cpm after training and 40 after six months.
I've just talked with my recruiter...he told me I can get better miles and start at 41 cpm/42 cpm after six months if I switch to the national fleet. I'll see a little more of the country and better miles while still getting home once a week.Last edited: Jul 17, 2015
