Save yourself from joining one of the worst run companies out here, skip past the reviews written by office personnel. If you like running Tyson and Sara Lee loads, 90% overnight, driving a bare bones truck with no guts, dealing with childish dispatchers straight out of college; a terminal manager who likes to belittle the very people that pay his bills, douche. if you want that guaranteed pay you better read the fine print and say goodbye to your loved ones for 3wks, you'll get 3 days off after that time lol whatever. Never call night dispatch for anything, they're about as useful as a boat in a desert. If you value hometime, being treated like a professional and driving a truck you can be proud of...... Lol Don't apply here..... Get your own authority like me

Honestly, that sounds like every large otr trucking co. ever. Least they have a pay guarantee, I did the typical otr crap for three months when I started driving many years ago then realized I'd rather be homeless than be stuck out on the road and have the chance of getting a $200 paycheck just because THEIR ill-maintained equipment blew up on the grounds that it couldn't pull a hill. Save yourself the headaches and leave that otr stuff for the miscreants

You could use a boat in the desert for shade. That seems fairly useful.

Honestly you are dead wrong. It pays to know a little about Otr to assume all Otr drivers make 200 dollar pay checks. Lol and calling us miscreants. I can give you many examples of truckers working for small companies and getting rip off and the headaches of local driving as well. Some people actually enjoy the open road as well as bringing home 1200 weekly while doing itBakari742, Veteran driver, Longarm and 1 other person Thank this.

So you are telling me all these mega, coolie, carriers pay their drivers $1200 a week even when their equipment breaks down? Would love nothing more than for every otr driver to make $1200 a week, more would be even better, but that sad truth is they don't. Most don't have any meaningful breakdown pay, no detention or layover pay, etc. Yet they still find enough scalawags to keep their co trucks rolling. At any cost, you missed the point. Was trying to put into words that there should be a minimum weekly guarantee for all otr drivers that stay away from home for weeks or months on end. I've been there, get a check for $800 one week then $200 the next. Its an arduous way to live, and I respect that, but there is a reason why C.R. England, and the ilk, hire 100's of drivers a month....and it's not because they are paying their drivers $1200 a week. Leaving all that aside, enjoy it all in good health.Last edited by a moderator: Jul 16, 2015

Well it sounds like the op is going to find out soon enough. Exactly how hard it is to get paid. Businesses have a team devoted to finding any reason they can to not pay the Bill. Seen that first hand. Other businesses such as brokers won't pay at all. Most that can be done is fileing charges for service theft. Which takes 2 year's to get a conviction on. Even then he still never see his money. By the way I do run over the road. The sliding pay scale is hard to deal with. When I think about. Trucking has never been for the weak. Which is why many end up working back at a normal job for $350 a week.

HERE IS THE LOW-DOWN ON K&B
I been with K&B almost a year. I have looked but not found a better job (except WalMart) doing Midwest reefers. Newbies start at 45cpm. with experience, it is 48-50 cpm. With a minimum 2500 mile guarantee, that is pretty good.
I have a salary job on a dedicated account - those are available. My pay breaks down to about 55 cpm or $26/ hour. That is for a regular schedule of 11 out/ 3 off (sometimes, it is a little less than 3 - but they only promise 2, so it's a good deal). Schedules are negotiable - you can do 5 on and 2 off - though that pays less. You can stay out and get $1400 every week. Any one can get these positions though you get a little less money if you can't park within 50 miles of one of the customers.
I don't have to work too hard (about 45 hrs/week) Plenty of day driving and usually plenty of time to sleep or pursue other activities while on the road.
The truck are good. Late model Cascadias with APU and real fridg/freezer. Maintenance is immediate for any problem. The trucks are under powered but that is only an occasional annoyance and 65 mph is usually an adequate speed.
Dispatchers have made me mad a few times but I improved the situation through communication and chain of command. I have no complaints at this time.
If you take only your regular days off and vacation days and maybe do a little extra once in a while, you will make $65k here in a year. More is possible but who wants to work that hard?
My advice to anyone having a bad experience at K&B or any company is this:
1) first, check yourself - are you really being consistently professional and reliable?
2) improve the situation with better communication or chain of command if not satisfied
3) adjust your situation: move to another account or get a different dispatcher.
These steps have worked for me. This is a very good job. Easy work (relatively) and very good pay. I recommend this employer.Bakari742 Thanks this. -
But would they give you a boat if you were in the desert?

A real man would build his own boat and wait for the rain.truckerlife74 and Meltom Thank this.
