My experience is limited but from what I've seen it really does depend on your personal life and the job.

HUH? What one gets paid has a LOT to do with determining "best" and "worst".

I guess the answer to ya question would definitely be no. Comparing a local job to OTR is like comparing apples to oranges.

Remember, he's asking about the WORST local job vs. the BEST OTR job.

That's like asking which is better, the WORST chocolate cupcake (ya know, burnt, stale with watery frosting, and hard as a rock) vs. the BEST cinnamon roll (ya know, all warm and sweet with ooey gooey glaze, soft, and full of cinnamon sugar goodness).

Define worst. Please type slowly because it's Friday @ 3pm which is the start of my weekend so I'm on my third Blue Moon.

I can assure you that if you have a little daughter, and she cooks or bakes something for the first time, it'll be as you describe, and YOU WILL eat every crumb of it, or watch her cry, and your wife hit you with a baseball bat.

One time I had the worst coffee in the world....nearly took off all my back hair as I drank it.

but it was the BEST coffee I ever had.

Seriously, I did OTR for the first two and a half years of my 20 year driving career. It is what it is. My first local job had me unloading 48ft trailer at 22 stops a day. That was my route for three years. I moved to local tankers and now after 13 years with this company I have one stop a day and off weekends.

When my kid goes off to college and if they doubled my pay I'd go back to OTR. Why not?

Local sucks. I was running outlaw for years and I was exhausted a lot.mimhas to gets local job to get a break.

Turns out that high percent of local jobs are LTL getting up at 2am starting at 3 for a 16 hour shift everyday legally. Man outlaw seemed like the best job at that time lol.mi was always exhausted running local. And that was a step deck curtain van. 10-16 stops/day

I'm home every day hauling crude. Worked 9 hrs today made $290.

Worked 13 hrs yesterday and made $435. So it varies from day to day.

I've never been over the road. Paid for my own trucking school and delivered milk my first job. Delivered auto parts after that. Did local flatbed for 6 months (not for me), got into tanker and delivered gas for 7 years, and have been hauling crude last 3 years.

I've always been home every night. Wouldn't change if unless it was for huge money. Even than don't think my wife would like it so local I'll stay.
