Well you're fortunate not to have a DPF on there. Yes, that's my understanding. You can only put a 2006 or newer engine in the truck. Me personally, I would look for a pre-2003 truck and engine before I put a DD15 in it. Since 2007, every fleet truck I've driven I've been glad I didn't own it. DPf, EGR ,DEF, ACERT all GARBAGE IMO. The good ol' days of having things that worked that didn't cost a fortune to maintain are gone. The fleet I work for has run DPF trucks, ACERT, DD13/15 and they are all consistently in the shop for emissions issues. The ACERT seemed to be the better of them and to be fair, the newer DD13's are a lot better but certainly not something I would own. Good luck. -
Well, you can order 2016 Cascadia with the 98 emission SER 60, 12.7L, but you can't go to California. Harrison truck center can even give you a Eaton 3 pedal Autoshift with the truck.
I am seriously thinking to get a new truck and these are my two chooses: Cascadia glider or Volvo 780 d13 Ishift. -
I had always thought the Gliders were a great deal, as you could buy a pretty loaded Coronado w/sleeper for 100,000 just a few years ago, but now that same truck is in the 120 and up range, add to that the FET HAS to be paid and I just don't feel they are as good of a deal as they once were.
This coupled with emission trucks getting better and less problematic and I'm just not sure I can justify it any more.

I agree, getting glider for about the same price for a new truck and still - you can't go to California. Only good thing is maybe reliability.

Well, that reliability and low cost of operation can really pad the bottom line compared to the newer emission laden trucks. Looking back on buying my glider, if it was the same price as a similar spec'd new emission truck, I would not have hesitated to buy it again.
But is all a moot point anyway. EPA has decided it is time to even require gliders to meet emissions standards, effective with fiscal year 2016. A congresswoman from TN, where Fitz is located, introduced legislation to remove funding from the EPA to do this. It has died. So, barring some last minute deal, the EPA is going to demand emissions retrofits on gliders as well. The party is coming to an end. Either get one now or forget it.
Under those conditions, I would opt for a totally new truck. Retrofit setups have never worked out quite as well as was hoped. -
Here's another option. You could just do an EGR delete kit on your current engine. The ECM will be reprogrammed to work like normal, and the EGR will still be there, just closed and bypassed. The engine will run like a 98 model - more reliable with more power and better fuel economy.

Ha-ha-ha, you don't need a kit. If you have DDCT-4.5, you can re calibrate your file in the ECU to close the EGR

Glider is getting bad and going down deal. I am thinking about Volvo 780, d13, ishift or Cascadia EVO, dd15 and dt 12 auto. I like better the Volvo sleeper and cab, but maybe the detroit has the better engine.

Well, that is true. I haven't targeted anything west of I-25 with my truck since about 1999. Did haul one load to Seattle a few years ago that was a good deal. For those that have the need for California, the glider thing is not going to work. For anyone who either doesn't do California, or can easily avoid it, a glider is a very viable option.KANSAS TRANSIT Thanks this.
