Hi everyone,
I would like to hear some reviews on fuel cards. Im currently using my business credit card to purchase fuel but thinking about get some of those cards like FleetOne, Comdata, EFS, etc.... Any experience with these cards? I have 2 trucks. I usually get fuel at small moms pops truck stops because its cheaper then to fuel at places like TA/Petro,Pilot, Flying hook,Loves, another problem is that these big chain truck stops are too crowded and I dont want to lose my time. I get around grand cash back at the end of each year using credit card. Is it worth it to switch? Can I still buy fuel at small places with those fuel cards? How big are discounts?
Thank you.

If I had more of a choice, I'd use a credit card. The company I am leased to wants us to use ComData. It can be a pain. Not all fuel stops take it. Not all fuel stops that do have the newer system and it takes forever to pay and get a receipt. I'm stubborn and will go a few miles out of the way to avoid the big stops like Pilot, Loves, TA, etc. They are generally 15 to 45 cents more per gallon than mom and pops around here.

This is not an endorsement. But you might check out NASTC, they had discounts on fuel within a few cents of the discounts I get through my carrier. The rub for me was the "join up" fee but I guess they can't do it for free.
Might be worth a look.
I tried the credit card rebate deal years ago but I had to compare my co. discount against the rebate and it became too confusing for my feeble mind.Red379 Thanks this. -
On a 2 truck operation, and as long as you're paying your balance and not paying interest on your fuel, I would stick with credit cards. I have a Bank of America card that builds points that can be used for cash, or plane tickets, or vacation packages. One guy I run with has a Cabella's card, another has a Disney card and uses it to take his daughter to Disneyland every year.

I use comdata, but thru my co I get huge discounts at j/ pilot. like 050 to .99 a gal off cash price.

I bought fuel at petro today, my Comdata card company discount was .49 a gallon less than the credit price. That is 100 dollars a fill up less, I don' t know the best way for you to get a discount but if I were you I would make it my number one priority.

Flying J $2.899
Speedway down the road $2.399
The Fed's haven't been to Speedway to my knowledge?Red379 Thanks this. -
We use a Fleet One card. I do the same as the op and normally fuel up at smaller places. If I had to guess from my experience is say 90-95% of them take it.

Pacific pride is what I use. I call and get prices of the stations in the town I will be in when needing fuel. Some are way expensive but majority of the time they are way cheaper. Ex. N Las vegas pacific pride 2.23/gal. N las vegas flying j 2.95/gal.

used to pay my fuel bill every month with AmEX and got a few free trips to vegas out of them a year
FuelMan will get you about .10 a gallon and most places take it -
I was wondering this today too. I have been paying cash in Jersey, thinking I would be saving money.
How do you know how much discount you get with comdata? Can anyone sign up for it?
