Interested in maybe getting on this upcoming season, has anyone here done it and can pass on some info to me?
-better of the companies to work for?
-how long the runs are/where you haul to and from
-actual earning potential?
And any other useful advice
Thanks

This is a joke, right?
Prairie Boy and DUNE-T Thank this. -
Why would I be joking?
I seen job postings for it this past winter but I already had a good paying job(until oil crashed). -
You should call up the Polar Bear and see if he's hiring then.. Don't see why anyone would want to be on a show like that, good way to potentially ruin your career.
-
I didn't say anything about being on tv.
dca Thanks this. -
The second some see ICE ROAD they think the TV show shows the negative impact that goofy show had on the trucking industry

Normally, I'd respond to this sort of question by pointing out the fact that there is a SEARCH feature for these forums just up top there, on the right.
That said, I will post 2 links, and offer an opinion. The winter road business ain't what it was. Whither it fell victim to rates, like the rest of the trucking industry, or it fell victim to bad TV programming, I'm not sure. You can probably still make a few bucks doing it, if you're experienced with winter roads already, bulk fuel, or over dimensional. The rates for freight are so bad, that the big winter roads are now being driven by a lot of temp workers. Like I said, do your homework and use the search engine here, and Google. I ran winter roads years ago and it was a good gig. I did over size and it paid well. Now, not so much. Talk to Pioneer, if you have experience and a clean record. I believe Lucien may have dispatched some big freight north of Yellowknife this past season. 'luck

like most things in trucking It was a good gig when it was not known so well , then it was flooded with drivers / contractors as a result of the TV show and the typical rate cuts happen.
-
Yes. Ran about 6 trucks (lowbeds) for about 6-7 weeks. But be ###### if I will divulge what we paid our drivers on this site. Except to say that, they were extremely well paid.
