Road Master has a good school but they have Werner that will help with financing schooling.

    Brandi Thanks this.

I actually just spoke with them this morning. The recruiter advised me that Werner would put me OTR without a doubt for a minimum of one week at a time, which is of course a problem given my two little boys. :/

I would not get tied to any company " sponsored " training, go to your local cc that training is as good or better than others.

You know it a crying shame, I have sunk so much time and energy into the school and testing that I now cant even afford to leave the yard much less make the trip to get my license printed. Ironic I guess.

As a hiring manager, it doesn't make a difference to me. Typically, I find that getting Verifications is easier when dealing with a community college, but that is trivial. Go with whatever is easier on you and your budget.

I haven't come across it yet, but I have heard rumors that some of the Mega's are starting to train their drivers on Automatics exclusively - that could be an issue at a lot of places if you can't drive a manual.

I got mine through community college. It was a good course since it was 1 driving instructor per student. It was convienient too since they set it up as 2 hour lessons and were offered 4-6 times a day (they had 4 or 5 instructors on staff) so I was able to make it work with my work shift and days off. Wasn't cheap though. About $350 for 2 hours (Cost me about $6k to complete it)

Jrod is your company hiring new drivers? I saw an ad for them on Craigslist the other day.
