And you didn't have to pay $200,000 for that kind of MPG's. The Columbia (Fitzgerald) I bought is only getting 6.5 MPG's but my driver is running it against the governor all the time and is almost always heavy. I just hope mine sells for that much when it's 4 years old.

Schneider Glider - that sounds dirty... like a Cleveland Steamer or a Dirty Sanchez!

I'll lay money on the table that the heavy hauler truck has never had 10% of the wear and tear that an ex mega fleet truck has seen. Heavy hauler drives like it's going to break because it can and it sure will. I wouldn't let a a pumpkin drive a wheelbarrow.Oscar the KW and KB3MMX Thank this.

@glockwise
Great info. Very interesting.
When was this?
What model roller did you buy for $70k?
Any idea what all those components cost today?
Were these Schneider gliders assembled by Schneider, Fitzgerald, or some other company?

The following is a list of the nine property classifications
under GDS and examples of the types of property included in each class. These property classes are also listed under column (a) in section B, Part III, of Form 4562. For detailed information on property classes, see Appendix B, Table of Class Lives and Recovery Periods, in this publication.
1. 3year property.

Those are 2013 numbers.
From 2003 to 2006 we built 25 classics, 25 xl's and 200 columbia's and replaced all of our w900's and 379's. Then we built 300 trucks for pepsi. And from 09-11 we built about 100 to rotate out the first batch of glidders we built. Then we started to just reman the existing trucks. Sold off all the classics to lease op's. For the reman's we'd strip the running gear, sandblast the frame, r/r bad panels, paint the truck, new rad, air2air, seats, matress, cabinets if needed, etc. We built a small shop just rebuilt 60's, tranny's and diffs. On any given day, we'd probably have 5 remann'd 60's and 20 tranny's on the shelf. Put em back on the depreciation schedule at $40k.Strider, oldtrucker66 and double yellow Thank this. -
As of today, many are still for sale.
I notice all the white ones have 48 and 58 inch mid-roof sleepers. To get a 70 inch raised roof, the colors are yellow or orange.double yellow Thanks this. -
Well, you yank the Detroit out of those trucks and put it into a new Pete or KW Glider, THEN you'll have a truck.dca Thanks this. -
Got this in my email today -- they've lowered the price (now starts at $45k).
