Wheels over torqued?

We had a mechanic who over torqued 5 years ago and went through a rash of broken studs and loose wheels.. Company changed every stud on the trailers and started using plastic lug locks pointers do the same we never had a issue since .. If lug nuts get loose you can tell easy on your walk around its way too safety sensitive to have inexperienced guys playing around with .. Whether someone gets hurt or not wheel offs in Ontario can really hurt the company if you get fined out there

 

I've always torqued to 450 then rechecked after about 3-500 LOADED miles, to keep them at 450. but that's just me.
