A month ago you were a student at a truck driving school and you're telling us what makes safer drivers and a transmission is ripping the heart out of trucking????

 

Honestly you just have about the same control with an automatic as you do as a standard. you can just place the automatic in manual mode and shift just like you would a standard.

The only thing that can be a ##### is backing to some docks that have an incline going up. And on the terminal usually the bigger they are the more red tape is associated with them.

But within 7 to 15 years unless your specialized like heavy haul or something like that 90% the trucks will be automatics just be like cars.

 

Turn off the heater and AC, drive a day cab and. Sleep on a board,,,
I understand about ripping ones heart out,,,thinking of you getting turned loose does just that.
Btw,,what's your opinion on self canceling turn signals ? Good luck,,,

This thread sorta reminds me of a lieutenant I once had. When I was platoon sergeant. The lieutenant once said these scary words " in my experience"

 

i have somehow driven across the rockies every week for a year in an automatic that has never been put into manual mode just an average driver
but today they grade on the curve
