I am guessing you didn't have the same Terminal Manager, Fleet Manager, and Driver Leader as my husband. They griped about it constantly. I heard it myself every week, because I was a rider.
Why doesn't Swift allow you to buy a inverter and they install it

Probably because they are SWIFT company trucks so THEY get to make the rules for the people that are driving them.
Their Company, their trucks, their rules. Pretty simple.
As a Company driver you would be fully informed of this at orientation, or sooner, and would have the option not to continue forward as an employee. You could then go somewhere else.
Once hired, don't ##### about it. -
Liability.
Drivers have burnt countless trucks to the ground for numerous reasons and ruined it for everyone.
Hot plates, extension cords, overloading, etc. Etc. -
When I was a company driver, we weren't allowed hardwired inverters. I just used 1500 watt inverter with alligator clips to the battery with 50amp fuse and it could easily transfer truck to truck.
Pretty much all I used it for was my microwave and coffee pot and neither did I run at the same time. -
If you want to customize a truck, save up and buy your own.

Walking down the bobtail parking in Phoenix and nobody saying anything "out loud" doesn't mean those drivers aren't going to potentially hear about it from their DM if the DM thinks that driver's idle percentage is getting excessive.
I got griped at once or twice about it when I drove for Swift. I didn't idle when it didn't make sense to do so, either, so it wasn't like I was burning company paid fuel just for fun. Thought it was absurd when my DM got on my case for 36% idle time during the month of July when I'd spent a lot of time in places where opening windows and sleeper vents wasn't going to cut it...
