They say because Schneider thinks you're not "well rested" taking an 8 hour break.
I got delayed and wanted to make sure I'd be on time for a live unload, that's the only reason I did it.

Pfft... Ask 6 different people about why they don't allow us to do the split and you'll get 7 different answers.

The ONLY reason we're not allowed is because SNI wants to MICROMANAGE us.

Dunno if that's the reason, it appears to me they just want to cover their rear ends with a lot of the BS things they do.
A mega carrier does have a huge target on their backs.

As long as they don't force driver facing Cameras into our trucks I'm good.

See? 3 people have weighed in and there's 3 different answers! :p

That's the most correct one though as far as I'm concerned...

Yes, but there's a difference between micromanaging and cya. SNI has long surpassed the level for cya...

I'm done. I was gonna hold out for my year and may still do so since I've got two months to go. But my laptop will be getting used to find another job when I get home.

    mickimause Thanks this.

Oh I do agree some of this is to the extreme..
All companies besides probably maybe small ones do such

When I was with Crete they made you log 30 minutes for a drop and hook no matter what.
That does not that me 30 minutes....

Also another fun Crete fact is if your fuel solution says to get 50 gallons you better get 50 gallons and not no 55 gallons because they will call you up and biotch about that too.

I was on paper logs too and they ran through that with a fine tooth comb.
Literally they my track my GPS coordinates by time and date and match everything to my paper logs.
If you flag a city and it's the wrong closest city by their opinion they will complain about something as simple as that also.

I've split my logs quit a few times with SNI and have never had anyone bring it up.

To this day, I only log 5 minutes at customers for loading, unloading, drop and hook, as well as fueling as on duty. No matter if it takes 3 + hours. I'm sure the osr will probably say something about it on my 6 month review (rehire), but no one has ever really enforced anything on me.

I've split a couple times in an absolute have to situation in order to make an appointment and no one has said any thing. I don't plan to or anything because it is their policy which I do try to abide by.

I do wonder though on some of these things if as an IC you couldn't tell them you're not an employee so sorry, if it doesn't fall within federal law SNI cannot tell us what to do.

I actually do understand their point about 8 hrs not being enough rest though. Usually 12 hrs off is what I need myself. But even FMCSA understands sometimes we need some flexibility in order to get proper rest and be able to take care of ourselves, since not everything you need is available in most trucks.

How about a lawsuit SNI, cause we know you watch what gets posted here, over SNI's policies preventing drivers from being able to take care of their health and welfare, therefore making them more dangerous, because there's more to being properly rested than just sleep.

It's funny how we as IC resemble the EMPLOYEES.

    Independent Contractor ?
I realize it's their DOT number but we are no different than an employee in every aspect except we choose where we go and foot the bills.

I wonder if and how that's possible.

Oh well its what we're stuck with for now.
