There are no regional Trimac drivers. There are only branch drivers, some who run the system and some local and the Elite drivers. If you're system you can run for as long as you like or out and back.
Every branch is different. So if you want specific information about a branch you would have to find a driver from that specific branch. If a Houston driver comes on here and you are applying for Fairburn then all he will be able to tell you is the location, he won't know specifics unless he has a buddy there. Trimac isn't like most companies, every branch is like there own world. Best case is talk to the terminal manager, they won't lie to you. They have more applicants than jobs available. -
What you call branch, Trimac calls regonal. Same thing? Fine. All Trimac ads and phone conversations I've had with them refer to the position as regional. All I'm interested in is a brief overview of a week in the life of a (branch, regional, anything other than otr or local), current driver.

They call it regional because that is the language you are speaking. Once you get in you will simply be a system driver. Every terminal has their own customers and most runs are based off of those customers. So it's almost dedicated to a degree. Some branches run a lot of hazmat and others hardly ever touch it. Hayward for instance virtually never hauls haz because they pull almost if not altogether exclusively for the Dow plant that makes latex. While Tulsa pulls for Baker which has tons of haz. Houston probably has the most variety but that's Houston which is the chemical capital of the U.S.
I wish I could tell you what a week is like but it's kinda like the military in the fact that a grunt will have a far different experience than a helicopter mechanic. It all depends on where you go. Now, if you choose to run longer then you will go to other terminals and then it becomes kinda like OTR....kinda. -
The branch I would be operating out of would be bessemer, al. If any drivers running out of there are on this forum and have insight about working there, I would appreciate it. I know many of their drivers are home weekends. With ppm at .42/.36, and hourly at $17, seems like only average paycheck could be generated from that kind of schedule. I am looking to be out 2/3 weeks at a time. Have a meeting with branch manager there mon morn. If I can't get more than 5/2 from trimac, quality carriers is next door. Perhaps they have more system or otr work available. Miller Transporters called me thur. Said I lived too far from memphis for co position but could buy, not lease a truck from them and go otr for them. that is an option should I need it.

Is it common for tank companies like Trimac and Quality Carriers to have branch terminals at the same tank wash locations?
-
It happens. Not too terribly uncommon.

I believe in the tanker world this is the norm. Sounds exactly like Superior and from what I have read about affiliates QC as well. Schneider appears to be the only company trying to run tankers like dry vans.
