I do, I've never had a steer blow out..Been driving the bigger stuff for 30 years..I think Im due
I watched a bunch of blowouts on youtube, that made me worse, Im paranoid ! Theres nothing I can do, It could happen to any of us, today, right?
Pray? Hope? Is that all? A good thourough inspection is worth its weight in gold i know, I look at my steers all the way around front and back, but still, i hold the wheel tight and think about it all the time...makes the trip unfun, wish i could chill out a little
I did like, and take comfort with this old video, i think most of ya will dig it

If you notice in that video, the tire blew...but the truck didn't take off for the ditch until the driver reacted by hitting the brakes. Sure, it'll pull a little. Hit the brakes and it'll pull a lot. Best option is to ACCELERATE slightly to maintain control, and the GRADUALLY start slowing down. Of course you can't do that if you're running against the governor...
I've seen far more trucks upright sitting on the shouder with their triangles out after blowing a steer than I have seen trucks greasy side up in the ditch after the same. Yes, it is always a possibility to have something like that happen...but as in everything else, the way you react to something happening plays a far greater role in the outcome than the initial event. -
I had a right front steer come apart, no big deal, I just coasted to a stop, no brakes.

ANYTHING can happen to you. All you can do is take preventive measures
OLDSKOOLERnWV and Straight Stacks Thank this. -
May be old, but still reliable info in that video.

Can happen at anytime and for any reason , just do not PANIC and as PEDIGREE BULLDOG mentioned accelerate slightly to maintain control gather up your nerves and start slowing down

I have a fear of a rear end blow out. Preventative Measure: Don't eat Taco Bell at 2am in the morning.

When I'm on a two lane I think about it and hopping the oncoming truck doesn't blow a steer.
Canned Spam Thanks this.
