Just wanted to comment about how everyone on here keeps repeating that Schneider L/P is the option to go if you do decide to L/P a truck. Good Company, Not a big difference in what you take home. I have worked for more than a few companies and even done a L/P before and personally have friends that are and have ran Schneider L/P and most have gone in the hole and the one is doing alright but he is okay making average 800 a week.

I do agree that for someone with none, to little experience SHOULD NOT ever consider a L/P. But, there are people that have completed L/P programs. It is just hard.... very hard work and dedications.

It's actually not hard at schneider. The reasons drivers go in the hole are totally on them, aside from a big break down and truck is in the shop for a week.
Even if your down for a week your rep will break up those costs so that when up and running again you will still have a positive settlement.
Last week I lost a load on a Friday night had to have two of my after that one pulled the third one I kept because the others were round trips.
So Saturday I go to get that one and it had to be cancelled
I got on the board and was still able with some extra dead heading to save my week, matter of fact not only save it had a 1200+ settlement.

Maybe I shouldn't say totally on them. If your not cut out to run your own its not going to work or if you're trying to soon with lack of experience its not likely to.

But I will say this, the problem is not the choice program.

Ok it's movie time see ya

I'm tired of trying to talk sense into these guys. I'm done. If someone else wants to chime in great, otherwise, good luck to the OP, see you back here after you've busted your butt and assumed the slow-down financial risks, and still have less to show for it then most company truck drivers.

I'm curious... If you can't save money now as a company driver, what exactly is going to change once your responsible for a truck payment each week?

At KLLM you can lease with absolutely no experience right out of training. They are one of the few that you can walk away from if you don't like it. There are lots of people on both sides of the fence as far as LP. I have been driving a total of 5 months all as LP driver. I have no complaints. You have a few more responsibilities as LP driver. The price of the truck ends up being about 10k more than if you went out and locked yourself into financing and you can only drive the truck for KLLM. KLLM will keep you running and profitable.

There is no balloon payment. You make all the payments and they hand you the title. You can walk away any time with no penalty and you will get all of your maintenance find back. A company driver starts out at .34 cpm. I have averaged bring home( after truck, insurance, fuel) of $900. And I'm only doing @ 2500 miles per week.

$900 week net and all the financial obligations and risks? Hope you don't get sick or need to take some time off.
