I used a power over ethernet security, search poe in ebay security cameras. About 250.00 came with 4 cameras. One facing forward and one facing rearward on my extendable mirrors { pulled oversize modular bldgs }
one camera on each side watching the trailer wheels. I had a flip down monitor in the cab and could select split screen 2 cam which was the trailer tires or 4 screen, all cams on display. Being able to watch the tires gave me an advantage in seeing the tire failures in real time so I could pull over quickly. At the factory, I would turn cams on first to document my tightening the wheels, checking the air pressure, and inspecting the suspension parts. This was needed because the " China bomb tires " failed at an unbelivable rate.
Do you have a dash cam?

Been with Crete for almost 3 years now. Hiring on wasn't a problem at the time... it took the recruiters exactly 6 minutes to call me after putting my application in and I was at orientation within a few weeks.
As far as the hard braking events go, our Qualcomm is wired to sensors in a few systems in the truck to detect critical events that would indicate unsafe driving (or in my case accident avoidance). The video below is one that triggered a call from safety. (Skip to 2:45 in the video)
That idiot actually had the gall to call Crete and claim I was driving "like a moron" and almost hit him. I sent them the video and that was that.tucker, MidwestResident, EndHatred and 4 others Thank this. -
great video, what brand is the dash cam ? have you had any problems with it ?MidwestResident and EndHatred Thank this.

just received the call. I START ORIENTATION MONDAY!!!!!!
I am so ready for this. thanks for the input and help everyone. You were right about me being a Crete driver with dry van as well. Still hope i get a blue truck though.
And nice driving Knucklehead, be safe out there, these guys think that there 5 minutes on the interstate is their moment to live their Nascar dreams. If they aren't drafting you, or stopping dead in the middle of the road in front of you, lol... their changing lanes like they are threading a needle only to get a call and slow down to 50 mph. lolLast edited: Aug 4, 2015

It's a Garmin. Only problem I've had with it is the G-sensor triggers (and makes a file that can't be overwritten without formatting the card) whenever I hit a nasty pothole but doesn't trigger when something actually causes me to REALLY get on the brakes. Go figure.
Also, doesn't like cheap off-brand memory cards like the one it came with.... They won't reformat right next eventually cause the camera to freeze. Got a 32gb SanDisk card in it now that works better with it and saves about 3 days worth of driving shifts before writing over them.MidwestResident, EndHatred and Stubby T Slapnutt Thank this. -
So do you prefer the go pro over a conventional dash cam. I've been looking at the new garmin GPS and cam in one, but I've also been considering a go pro because of it's versatility.MidwestResident and EndHatred Thank this.

I haven't heard much about the cam in the garmin tablet, I assume that's what you're referring to, but I can't see how it would be useful in most set ups. Think about how the tablet (gps) would have to be positioned in order for it to be useful as a dash cam.
edit, I was thinking of the rand tablet with gps and cam in one. I didn't know garmin had one. I can't find much on it but unless the camera can be aimed separately in order for it to be pointing straight ahead of the vehicle the gps screen would have to be at a place and angle I wouldn't want it.Last edited: Aug 4, 2015

This just came out this year, I was even at MATS at the Garmin booth must have walked right past it. I could see the go pro being used for more than just a dash cam which is appealing. Plus I already have a Garmin 770 for a truck to begin with so buying the go pro would save me some money over buying a whole new GPS and cam set-up (GPS I already have don't need). I believe I just talked myself into the go pro......MidwestResident, EndHatred and ghostdog Thank this. -
there is no reason for not having one
