checked in at 10:15am for a 10:30 appt. they started unloading at 1:30 pm....took them 1 1/2 hours to unload trailer...would not sign BOL....WOULD NOT DATE/time stamp it for detention....I blocked the exit and told them truck would not move until I at least had a signed BOL. I'll never deliver or p/u a load there again. Five hours at this facility...why do they give appointments?

When you "blocked the exit", did they finally sign the BOL?
-
What's the rest of the story? There was obviously something on the BOL that they were not agreeing with.
-
Funny how you never hear the whole story. A big company that has trucks in and out of there all day and they won't sign? What kind of major traffic jam did your self imposed hold the gate hostage routine cause?
-
Well Grouch, they signed it immediately after I stated "the truck doesn't move till I have a PODS on the BOL...as for the rest of ya....there is nothing more to tell....just a typical poorly managed distribution center costing the trucking industry and its drivers a lot of money, including myself.
-
Grouch???? HAHAHAHA

No surprise since Quaker is owned by Pepsi.

I'm surprised to hear that, assuming you're referring to the Pepsi DC in Wytheville, I was on their account back in 2004, usually didn't have any problems. Remember having to strap all loads & everything was preloaded. With strapping once had some cans fall loose& I was required to collect them, ok with me, got some free Pepsi to take home.

All were heavy loads which needed to be scaled though but the major problem was with deliveries as all their local drops are @ very small locations which originally had been built in the 50-60's for their much smaller delivery trucks. with 48' trailers.. -
The workers at that Pepsi are union if I can remember. Bunch of entitled people. I've had a few words with them... You can also weigh on their scale, but it's wrong. Just go up the street and use the CAT scale
true blue Thanks this. -
I was fortunate enough to get the broker to agree to a specific detention rate when I took a load in there this year, so I was in and out of there within 2 hrs, but seeing the long check in line and the amount of trucks waiting for a door, I didn't want to come back. Talked to a couple of drivers who said they were there long past their appt. time.
hunted Thanks this.
