"Professionals" don't job hop. They also understand that orientation is not to teach you how to drive but learn company policy and procedure.
Companies need to stop lumping newbies with veteran drivers

i had a job once where i spoke to them on the phone they told me they would give me a job. i came in a few weeks later filled out a application they went over how they want there paperwork done (maybe 30 mins). and took a piss test left went home. when the piss test came in they said ok good to go. met up with the owner at there yard where he handed me the keys apologized that the 379 long nose 300" wb truck wasn't spotless clean. 5 mins later i was grabbing gears heading to go get a load.
of course there is a bit of a catch to that story.
i drove for a o/o leased to them for a while before this i liked working for them they liked me working for them but i had problems with the truck owner i was working for so i cut out the middle man and asked them for a job.
the reason he apologized for the truck not being spotless clean was i was talking to him at one point before i had ever even considered asking them for a job he had seen the inside of the truck that i was driving before and had noticed that i always kept the inside of my truck spotless clean.powerhousescott Thanks this. -
I've been on both sides of this one myself. Shortest orientation was when I had my own truck. Longest was 7 days for an oilfield driving gig, 2 in office doing paperwork, and 5 out in the truck with a mouth-breathing idiot I wouldn't have hired to sweep the shop. I knew the job, the customer and the equipment better than he did, by a long shot, but he still felt the need to not sign me off until the full 5 days had passed. Still with that company, but not at that location any more, thankfully.

Never had "orientation" anywhere I drove. Just paperwork, IFTA sheets and a BOL. It shouldn't take three days to learn company paperwork, seriously how hard is it too write state mileages down and record when and where you got fuel? As far as Qualcomm goes I will learn that once it's shoved down my throat, more than likely in a 20 min crash course.
powerhousescott Thanks this.
