Only been checked once in the last ten years. But I bypass a few houses and run at night. Only one scale on my route isn't easy to bypass and usually hit it well after dark, the other four have easy bypasses that add no time to the route. It's really a no brainer.
How often does a LEO check HOS

Keep your paper straight, sleep well at night, smile whenever they wave you in and move on to the next question.
bottomdumpin, TankerP, Cranky Yankee and 1 other person Thank this. -
to answer the OPs question, every time you get pulled over the standard question is to see your logs. Only once in the many times I wasn't asked for my log right away.
I always told the office that I have to update the log to show on duty status when they ask by the way. -
Apparently, the Officer believes e-logs are not unlike his report writing using the abridged method.
Sample:
Abridged Method: Officer states, "I had to struggle taking the suspect into custody"., (imply suspect resisted arrest.)
Unabridged Method, Suspect writes, ...with the two Officers standing in front of me, while handcuff to the front, each Officer used an arm bar and raised my body till my feet left the ground, then the Officers walked me over to their Patrol car, carried me. i.e. Officer was weak in strength as he struggled to lift suspect off the ground.)
Relationship, using the abridged logging format was probably what he was looking for. (troubling).
Curious, how does one catch the abridged logger that implys accurate detail...probably not unlike the Officers use of the abridged statement writing contained within his report. (I'm just saying...devil is in the details.)Last edited: Aug 11, 2015
