Looking to purchase my own truck. Can I get facts and real opinions about using my truck to lease with a company or run my own authority? Like if I lease through a company is the dispatcher gonna call me asking me why my truck isn't moving yet? Is leasing my truck to a company sorta like being a company driver no freedom, but I own the truck? Can someone tell me the basic process what I would have to go through in order to lease my truck to a company?
101 facts of leasing my truck vs own authority

It was funny to me! Only like a hundred threads on this very topic that always get a bunch of folks having a peeing contest.
Use the search function, plenty of good info before the "my dad can beat up your dad" folks chime inTruckDuo, larry2903, whoopNride and 2 others Thank this. -
We'll I own my truck and I am leased to a company and in the 20 years I have been with them I have never been called and asked why my truck was not moving.
I go where I want and when I want . I work when I want or need to.
I don't work for my company I work with my company.
But I must tell you I am not leased to a mega company or one with their own trucks .
If you lease on with one of that type of company you might be treated like just another employee.TruckDuo, Cetane+ and Lady$hifter Thank this. -
Sorry if you took it the wrong way but if you type in the search function "leasing vs my own authority" you'll find a lot of different threads on the topic.TruckDuo Thanks this.

Thats pretty much how I have it. I'm leased to a smaller carrier. He has 11 trucks and last I inquired about 20 or so other O/O's leased on.
I can decline any load for any reason,.. (within reason). I run how I want, no delivery appts (Flatbed), if I ask for a few days off and want to stay and spend some time in an area I dont catch any grief over it. I go home when I want and stay home for as long as I want. I let them know ahead of time. I dont surprise my dispatcher with anything that may put the companies reputation at jeopardy. Unless its a break down where I have no control over the situation,.. everything is handled in a professional manner. Communication is the key. They know me and how I like to operate, and I understand how they like to run me. I do what I am asked and I never complain.
As Marmon said,. I work with my company. We both have a vested interest in seeing each other prosper.TaylorMade407 Thanks this. -
You need to talk to O/O where your thinking of leasing on. It's not a one size fits all.
whoopNride Thanks this.
