I understand cranky that's what I did and I said I did. How ever I still reported the issue. Bc they said before we got on with the coaches absolutely no one in top bunk while truck is moving. I did it cuz I had too. And didn't complain I sucked it up but my goal is to let people know it's a problem so it don't happen to anyone else

TA is just covering their butts telling you no one in top bunks
reality is no one ever switches bunks
no one ever uses the seat belt harness in the bunk
there is the DOT way and reality
your 70 hour clock is your only friend
you need to protect those hours too
I'm sure someone in Washington thinks we are on duty the whole time we sit at shippers but every minute on duty takes away driving time that is realitypassport220, HometimeQueen and HeWhoMustNotBeNamed Thank this. -
just in case anyone's not quite sure, Cranky is being totally serious this time. Me too.
HometimeQueen Thanks this. -
When I was at Prime My trainer let me put my sleeping bag on his bunk he said it wasn't safe to sleep on the top bunk but I got sick of him waking me up in the middle of the night when he was done driving so I started sleeping on the top bunk never had any issues but then again I can sleep just about anywhere

My trainer may not have been that great but, he did try to teach the basics and we never drove team. My.... how things change.

The King has used several systems and, surprisingly, Blue Tree was the one that he felt was most user-friendly....Peoplenet was his least favorite. With any of them, remember that they do have their flaws and there will be a time or two that you will have to do things the old-fashioned way ....logsheets and an atlas.

You were one of my three good trainers, jaso. I know that you put a lot of thought into what your students needed to learn.
There was the exceptionally large trainer that slept with nothing on but a pair of ladies pantyhose .....

No one is trying to be rude, texashounddog......but maybe we are a bit jaded. We have enough combined experience with TransAm to know what goes on during the training portion.....and to realize that because the system that they have in place makes them money they are not interested in changing anything. That being said ....thank you for telling them about the safety issue. We have found that through the forum and through this thread we were able to make (or force) a few changes for the better. Pete is right though .....there is a world of difference between what is supposed to happen and what actually takes place. They know it, there have been many complaints made before ....with no changes in their policies or way of doing business. The best force for change that we have in our arsenal has been the honesty of this thread ....in both good and bad, and that we have personally made the effort to do the right thing .....as jaso did when he was a trainer. If enough of us continue to do the right thing eventually change will take place whether they like it or not.
TransAm has a tendency to assume that a trainer will do team miles with his student out of a desire to make more money. It is up to the individual trainer to turn down those loads ....as jaso did. Some of the lease drivers have been placed in no position to be able to turn down that extra money. So long as pay is based on cpm for training and not a flat fee paid to the trainer, these types of problems will exist.Last edited: Aug 11, 2015
