So do I, I had cable broadband before and is a little faster then DSL but DSL is not a "shared" connection like broadband is. I also went with a wireless router so that I could use my laptop anywere in the house..

I hated DSL the whole time I had it. Certain programs wouldnt work online. Cable is so much easier to have. And I also share a wifi in my apartment complex, legally I would like to add.

I am paying five bucks a month less for DSL but for me the privacy is worth a lot more...

Ok I had cable and swore by it until dsl came along. I decided to run dsl alongside my cable and did so for a year. I do some programming and am also an avid gamer. I like to connect to gaming servers and at one point I rented them out. I eventually got rid of the cable and kept the dsl because quite frankly it is the most STABLE of the 2. Keep in mind that I had both for a year and periodicly ran packet line tests as well as a whole slew of other tests before coming to this conclussion.

However, they will both soon be replaced anyhow so no point in getting to far into it. They are already laying fiber optic cable and in upstate NY theyre testing out the use of electrical. Yes it will be as simple as plugging into your wall socket.

It appears Ny is not the only location testing. Heres a link to some info on testing in St. loius.
