Flatbeding is definitely a "Man's Job" a vet told me that opted to steer clear of it (lol)

Heights, physical labor, wind and extreme temperatures on top of driving is something that's not appealing to many. It's perfect for me who's only reservation with trucking was giving up my training and physical lifestyle.

Everyone is different but this is for me.

 

Melton has 8 ft drops and I believe 3 of them. How much do they pay for tarping? How much do they pay for securing strapping/chaining? You have to secure before you tarp. How much you get paid for securing/tarping divided by how long you think it will take will give you an idea if its worth putting your life on the line for falling off a load or putting a bungie through your face and oh the multiple stops are wonderful for all company flatbedders ( no matter what company you work for that matter) ... Just something to think about.

I wouldn't do anything else though. lol

 

If risk is all that of a concern, I don't think they should be driving in the first place.

 

I've been doing this for years and I have been very fortunate and lucky that i have not been seriously hurt so far. I always move at the speed that is the safest for the situation. I constantly meet top notch veteran flatbeders that have been hurt or know someone who has been hurt by falling or having to drive to a hospital to get a bungie removed from their face. I always listen and learn and strive to be as safe as possible. Never have too much pride to ask questions, it can save the public and yourself and your career from harm.

I drive for melton have been 4.5 yrs the camera saved my ### when a lady cut me off and I couldn't stop.bc of that camera showing me I was clean melton won the lawsuit so the camera only record 24 seconds at a time while truck is moving but if ur not doing nothing illegal why should u care
