My company has about 120 units. We have maybe 5 left that still run west that are not compliant and I have one. It's an 06 KW w an 05 stamped Acert Cat.

I've taken very good care of this truck and have fought to keep it. 1.63 mil miles on it and she purrs , inside is like new.

I run Salt Lake and the PacNW out of the Carolinas every other week and enter CA heading in on 5 or 15. I have Prepass and 95% of the time I get the green light at scales. I NEVER stop at truck stops. This is where CARB will burn you. Big distribution centers, produce locks, ports, etc. Ontario, Indio , Hesperia, Barstow. Beware.

I get in... Go to my company facility.. I get out. So far so good.

I fully realize that may all end. When one gets it , I'll prob have to take a truck with DEF and emissions nightmares.

This seems to work for me. Hope it helps. Stay away from populace!!

Heads up guys .Im local in southern California. Im not going to beat a dead horse but , I have a 1992 , im on 20k mile work truck extension.MAYBE seen the carb enforcement a handful of times at the scales all year.Don't know what to say , all the guys who upgraded are pissed cuz seems like A LOT of old trucks that are sold get put to work the next day.Rates are still struggling. I hear now and then that someone gets a citation. BUT don't KNOW anybody who has gotten a fine. And there is still guys who haven't even registered with carb.So some guys are buying up all the old trucks they can and working the crap out of them.Hardly fair.Typical California:rolleyes:

Yup, if I had a penny each time I saw an old truck run here in ca...odds are so low of getting dinged it's worth it to run an old truck (outside port and rails)

At fuel islands & shippers I notice the majority of those old trucks have DPFs. At least the ones not held together with bailing wire...

I honestly can not say if they are or not enforcing carb rules.

I have an 05 Columbia with a pre emissions BXS Acert C15. No EGR... No DPF... No DEF.

I've done 5 or 6 loads into Cali. Stockton, Sanfrancisco, Oakland, Antioch, and Hollywood. I was not questioned or hassled at all.

How ever.. I never went looking for the Cali load. Carrier offered me the load that was paying $3.50 - $5 mi. So I figured I would play ignorant if caught and hope for the best. Been lucky so far. Knock on wood.

I'll keep taking loads like that until I hear about guys getting fined.

been running to cali for years with older equipment and haven't seen any enforcement besides the usual dot checks.Spoke to a highway patrol at one of the scales and his exact words were "if we can't enforce CA registered trucks to comply with carb, how are we going to enforce all of the out of state trucks" good luck
