I got that phone call THE NIGHT BEFORE I was supposed to go up to East Brunswick NJ for orientation.

I said "no thank you".

It worked out better in the long run.

LOL! People still say this after 150 years? What's REALLY strange about it, is it's people that STILL support the losing side.

Any who Bug...you sound like you have one of the extremely few decent positions/treatment that JB Hunt offers. In other words, you are the exception and not the rule.

My personal experience with JB Hunt in the early to mid 2000's has been documented on these boards a couple of times. In a nut shell:
Hired on as "Midwest Regional" and "Home Weekends" (with complete understanding that I would 'slip seat' at the Cedar Rapids terminal). After recovering an abandoned truck to move into, my first load went to Carlisle, PA. (What? Midwest? Huh?). Second load went to Upstate New York (Wait...what? Midwest? Huh?). Third load....Virginia! (See a pattern yet?).
For 8 weeks----yes count them----8 weeks JB Hunt ran me in this region WITHOUT SENDING ME HOME. Seems they were completely aware that I was not stupid enough to Abandon the truck, and took full advantage of me for as long as they could get away with it. HAD TO play their game, or completely destroy my chances of ever getting another job by abandoning their equipment.

As soon as they finally got sick of my asking to go home...they finally got me a load to Cedar Rapids (Reinhart Foods, just down the road...I remember like it was yesterday). I delivered the load, I called the wife, told her to meet me at the terminal, cleaned out the truck, went inside and scanned last paper work, dropped the keys on the counter, and never looked back.
My dispatcher called that following Monday and asked if I was ready to go back out, I acted like I never even heard of him or his company, and hung up, and never looked back.

To JB Hunt's defense, I made great money...and they paid every dime they owed me, and the only thing they put on my DAC was "Eligible For Rehire". LOL! Yah right...like I'll be jumping on THAT offer any time soon.

Lots of companies to choose from that allow you to ride along. Companies with APU, refrigerator, xm radio, satellite TV.

Maybe if they treated drivers like humans they would not have to give away pie

J.B Hunt recruiters were at my school today. Unfortunately, since I am already employed by Dot Foods, they made me leave the room. I was really looking forward to some stand up comedy.
