CAT 3406e fuel problem

    Why were the injectors replaced to begin with? Saw something similar and a psi gauge was mounted on the wiper arm for the driver to watch. When it ran bad or cut off the pressure was low and would come back to normal. Bad fuel supply pump. You could also have restriction, air in fuel, other? Also had a 3176 beat me for about 2 weeks. Engine harness had a bad place rubbed in on a supply pump bolt. Saw it arc while moving harness at night but engine did not shut off.

    I blew them not sure if it was the tips or what not just know it went to shaking and blowing black smoke real bad idled real rough call a two truck and they spent a week on it said 1 and 2 where bad and the hand pump.
    It's probably going to be a pain to track down.
    Out the tank in to separator over to transfer pump into a control valve(?) that feeds into the return and the filter filter then looks like it goes to ecm into front of the rack back to the control valve.
    So like 10 11 connection point 5 parts and a lot of hose and wiring to hunt though thanks for your ideas they will be followed up as well just need to make it back to the house!

    Cat has no repair for bad injector seats. The way a lot of guys are diagnosing air in the fuel system, is to run a fuel return hose, up past the windshield, with a sight glass in the line. If there are air bubbles or foam going through the sight glass when it is running bad, that is a sign of bad injector seats. Contact me for the repair if needed.

    20150905_114540.jpg Ok tested fuel pressure getting about 50psi at idle and 80psi at 2100.
    Only specs I see on this say 65 idle and 90-95 2100

    when you shut off the engine does the gauge show it holding pressure for a while?(1 or 2 minutes) if not the check valve is weak or they pinched an o-ring when they installed the injectors.

    mine doesn't hold pressure at all, a friend of mine can shut his go to lunch and then turn the key on and it still holding 50 psi.
