Absolutely. I'll get my time in and go local. I could go local now for $35 hr hauling gravel but i feel i should learn van first and earn that job instead of being given it
-
That is silly. Unless, you really want to do otr, go where the money is. You have your cdl, which means you earned the job. Sometimes, life is about who you know, you just gotta play the game.Speedwagon98 Thanks this.

Every load I have hauled is a hot load!

You can bet your company is charging the shipper a detention rate. Whether they share it with drivers is another matter.pattyj Thanks this.

Then follow the seasons my friend. Go to a southern state or find a winter job like city snow plowers. Where I live they make 20 couple bucks an hr. I haul gravel as well. April until November but the small company I'm with also does non hazmat tanker work so everyone goes otr in the winter

by law you have to give them 2 hours. my boss tried to pay me $5 an hr detention once. i had a conversation that told him 5 an hr isnt worth my time you can find me another load or you can find someone else to take it. bottom line is this if a company is calling for a pickup it should be ready and if not companies should have to pay very high detentions because A we took that load expecting to be ready and B it pushes back drivers time to pull new loads and companies to make more money.
BostonTanker Thanks this.
