I think that the op forgot one thing, the fmcsa regs are just for those states to abide by or to build on. The state may have a requirement for the sticker, if the sticker is missing data like a month or day, that too is a violation. I learned that if the inspector puts the sticker on the truck, it has to stay until it is expired.
Got stopped today. Terrible DOT Officers.

I saw a log truck lose a log off his trailer. The log rolled crosswise across the road, blocking traffic on the road. I was driving a school bus with kids on, so I could not stop and help roll the log off the road. The driver never stopped.
Some others stopped an rolled the log off the road. -
Thanks for a link Weird that a warning would hurt CSA. So why call it a warning at all. I know it has different weight just saying.

Well its quite simply really it is getting closer to Christmas and looks like some authorities out there want something extra in there Christmas stocking.

Mr.X Thanks this.

Huh, must not have had wrappers on the load? Only saw a log roll off a log truck once, it broke 3 ribs, and my right ankle, lol.Pumpkin Oval Head Thanks this.

Haven't seen a log come off a load in a while. Used to happen once in a while before most of BC's forest industry switched from tree length to shorts. Loggers used to hide the shorts inside or on top of the loads so they could maximize the amount of timber in each block they cut.

Never seen it happen. Its common practice to crib shortys in the center of a long log load, but they cant just roll of the truck. Maybe if a loader operator sat a short log on top center of the load, didnt let the driver know about it, and the driver never looked at his/her load therefore did not throw an extra wrapper... Anyway yes I agree all log truck drivers are scum, and its just a ###### good thing DOT is around to treat them as such, having a long week, Later!

I was stopped yesterday on I40 in Tennessee in the Gilliam County CMV Inspection station. Got placed OOS for what the trooper said was an air leak from one of the pancakes on a drive axle. I was surprised, but immediately called a road service to come out and replace the cylinder. The service truck got there and crawled under the truck and asked "what air leak?". There were no leaks anywhere other than an inaudible pin hole in one of my cab air bags. What's a few hundred bucks and an OOS on my report?
Sometimes you have to wonder if some of these agencies are just trying to justify their existence. They can point to a report and say "See, look at how great we are at protecting the motoring public, we placed 400 trucks out of service and wrote 2000 tickets this quarter. Now, we need a budget increase so we can be even more great."thejackal, DannyB and KANSAS TRANSIT Thank this. -
Haha. Log truckin' definitley ain't what it used to be. So much BS and changes in the last decade. Plus the forest companies are too cheap to pay decent. I know a lot of good guys who've thrown in the towel and sold their trucks and left driving completely.Mr.X Thanks this.
