you can have a plane ticket any day you want
they will pay you back up to the price of the bus fare
but you have to use your money up front
they even have sound reasoning for this as bus tickets are fully refundable and too many people don't show up to orientation
because they are not up front honest human beings

-
how long have you known your going the 16th?
-
Lucky you. Keep in mind you may want to find help getting the car back home.
I guesse wait till the week before. In all likely hood they wont do it because so many people change thier mind.
Well, I was just offering a suggestion. My reason7ng for not making the bus was legit but I know those bus rides can suck.jdmredneck33 Thanks this. -
I wish I could help you with this, jdmredneck. I don't remember exactly how long of a time span there was when the King started with them ....but I do think it was probably under two weeks. Does your current employer know that you are planning on going back OTR and eventually moving? Would he accept less than a 2 week notice? I know that you are trying to do the right thing and give the proper notice so this kind of has you caught between a rock and a hard place.
Because TransAm is a starter company that accepts student drivers, they are used to dealing with students that are just getting out of school and under no obligation to give a two week notice to an employer. It makes it hard on guys like you that are currently employed and trying to be respectful of your current employer.

None of us are with TransAm anymore, OzzyOKC, but for what it is worth I would say an average of 2,400 miles a week. You will have weeks that you will do much better than that......and some that you won't. Much will depend on how often you go home. The longer you stay out the better your miles will be each week.

Arizona DPS: Shots hit 4 vehicles on I-10 in Phoenix; 1 hurt

PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say shots have been fired at another vehicle on Interstate 10 in Phoenix, the fourth time it has happened since Saturday.
Arizona Department of Public Safety officials say only one person has been injured in the incidents.
DPS says it's still unclear if the shootings are random or related and the department's investigation is ongoing.
Two vehicles were struck in a half-hour span around 11 a.m. Saturday on I-10 between 19th and 59th avenues and a third vehicle was hit on I-10 near 16th Street about 10:15 p.m. Saturday.
A fourth vehicle was shot at around 4:25 a.m. Monday near 14th Avenue and I-10.
DPS is appealing to the public for information from anybody who saw anything unusual on the freeway during the periods when the shots were fired. -
Yeah, Queenie is right. If I had kept getting decent miles, I'd still be there getting my backing right. Truth though was I was getting starved out between truck breakdowns, not getting paid for recoveries and detention and then the miles dropped off, I had to go. Here, at Cargo, my average length of haul is half or less what is was at TransAm, but now I am hitting a dock twice a day instead of every third day and my backing is actually getting better. Just what the doctor ordered. When I left TransAm, I still didn't know how to control trailer swing when I backed up. I am a horrible oversteerer so I was flailing like an epileptic on speed chasing my trailer. Now, I have learned to control that. Hint: easy way is slam your tandems to the rear. Makes backing much easier until you learn to turn the wheel less as you back. Never taught that at any point. It has been a huge turning point for me conquering my backing demons. Hope this helps you newbies. Your Welcome.Oh, and don't forget to slide the tandems forward so you can not run over curbs when you turn, and watch your freaking mirrors.

Reason for edit: added contentdennisroc and HometimeQueen Thank this. -
i cant believe John and I never mentioned that
newbies troubles are they look at the back of the trailer instead of the tandems
the pivot point is the tandemsHometimeQueen and jdmredneck33 Thank this. -
Got it, use tandems as pivot point. Thanks Pete. Can I also suggest to watch out for that dreaded tunnel vision on the tandems and make sure to also watch the back of the trailer to make sure you don't hit anything.gntorres61 and jdmredneck33 Thank this.
